Beautiful nature-inspired poems that were both soothing and challenging to read. Glad I picked these up!

Just kind of meh to me, I had to force myself to finish it. Poems focus on animals and try to tell a deeper story about humanity (I guess). I don't think this collection made me feel anything the entire time but that's probably a me problem.

I love Limon on 'The Slowdown' podcast, and, with the recent news of her being named Poet Laureate, I decided to pick this collection up from a local library.

I'll keep this short: the poems are extremely well-written and composed. The imagery is gorgeous, and the topics/themes are interesting and engaging. At the same time, this collection is DARK. Do not read this if you don't want a collection of poems that are broody, depressing, and somber. A lot of them deal with death, grief, and other kinds of loss, and while they're beautifully written, they are undoubtedly heavy and bleak in some instances.

If you're going to pick this up, just be aware that this is a pretty depressing, if not amazingly well-written, collection of poems.

Some of the poems were good, but most of them weren’t that interesting.
