Love ends, but what if it doesn’t?
The poem ‘The Hurting Kind’ is one of my all time favorites. I cry my eyes out every time I read it. But this entire collection is so magical, so emotional and rooted. I loved hearing her read her own poems, of course they always get the inflections right. The first Latina poet laureate, and not the last.

sobbing, crying, weeping, wailing, whimpering, bawling, sniveling, grieving, mourning, blubbering, shrieking, lamenting, ringing, roaring, booming, pining, yearning, ululating, longing, aching!!! hurting hurting hurting!!!!

it is a unique kind of comforting to know that there are others out there who are also the hurting kind. weepers from long lines of weepers.

Ada Limón, thank you.
