Overall, most poems didn't make me feel anything, possibly because I couldn't relate to most of the content? It just didn't struck a chord in me.

Below are my favourite lines from this collection though (from the poem The Hurting Kind):

Before my grandfather died, I asked him what sort
of horse he had growing up. He said,

"Just a horse. My horse", with such a tenderness it
rubbed the bones in my ribs all wrong.

I have always been too sensitive, a weeper
from a long line of weepers.

I am the hurting kind. I keep searching for proof.

“Before, the only thing I was interested in was love, how it grips you, how it terrifies you, how it annihilates and resuscitates you. I didn’t know then that it wasn’t even love that I was interested in but my own suffering. I thought suffering kept things interesting. How funny that I called it love and the whole time it was pain.” one of my favorite writers ❤️‍

"Foaling Season" was one of the best poem I've ever read.
