I love books that mix humor with information! While some things are simplified - that is to be expected with a book about such a HUGE time period that was written for kids. It's a great hook into the time, with lots of "ewww" moments. It would be an excellent companion to historical fiction (like Adam of the Road which I'm currently reading, Door in the Wall, Midwife's Apprentice, etc.)

This is the exact kind of book I would have read as a child, and I wish I had found it then. Any child interested in medieval history will find this book full of fun facts (and many adults will find all sorts of tidbits they weren't familiar with). The illustrations are cute, and the layout is easy to read and absorb. Definitely recommended.
