This was really cute. I love the whole “let’s pretend we’re dating but then we actually fall for each other” story line. It’s really fun. And this book was just that fun and easy. Especially when you have summer classes and internship, something light is just what you need. Anyway this is a great summer read and also it’s by a Latinx author, which I have loving lately. My only issue with this was the ending. It felt kind of rushed. I wanted a little more but I guess because there’s another book we’ll get see both Louis and Sara again and see how they’re doing in that installment. Other than that it was cute and sweet book to read when you need it.

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.5

In Short: Pleasantly surprised with this one! Loved it!

General Thoughts: I was really pleasantly impressed with this one. I went in without any expectations or knowledge of what to expect other than that it had Latine representation. I was surprised in a good way. I enjoyed the writing style and the plot and character development. I will definitely be reading more by this author and in this series. This was a delightful contemporary romance with a surprising amount of depth to it, depth that didn't feel too heavy but added nice texture to the story. I'd definitely recommend this one. I like my books to be a little bit more wrapped up than this one was, but it was still great.

Spice Meter: ❤️‍🔥 Low spice and mostly fade-to-black romance.

Romantic Tropes/Noteworthy Things:
-dual POV
-close proximity
-fake dating
-Latina rep

This book was super cute. Kind of a slow burn but definitely worth it.

Fake dating, influencer, island setting, and a firefighter paramedic - SIGN ME UP! I am in love, and was hooked from the start.

I love reading romcoms like this because to me they are the ultimate feel good story. They pick me up on cloudy days, and just make me feel warm and happy with everything.

I've recently become obsessed with firefighter tv shows and books. This is the type of romance that I need more of. Their jobs are just everything that I don't have in my real life (nor do I want lol).

The writing style of this book was beautiful and just so easy. It was a nice, get lost in the pages type read that just sucks me in and makes me want to keep going.

Dual point of view romances are always my favorite. I feel that all too often we only get to experience romance books purely from the female point of view, and I like the male point of view as well.

However, the one thing that this book was missing for me was clear chapter markers as to who's point of view we were currently in. The author did make it fairly obvious, it is just a reader pet peeve of mine that there be markers present for my ease of reading.

I read a firstlook sneak peak of this book on bookishfirst.com. All thoughts are my own.

Priscilla Oliveras is a new author to me, and I loved this book. Yes, there was the Rom-Com, but it was sweet, moving, had family issues, just really enjoyed. Thank you!!!

I loved the premise of this book and the cheesiness which was just what I needed in a summer book. The romance went a bit too fast though and I didn't really like the third act break-up especially because it went on so late in the book and felt a bit rushed, it also lasted until the very end and felt a bit unnecessary for me. The audiobook was also easy to follow.

Look, I'm a sucker for a good romance. Even more so if it's set on an island or on a beach. This book was calling me to after finishing The Child Finder.

Honestly, this was adorable. Like melt my heart adorable. Even though Sara annoyed me a bit at first, she grew on me. And Luis was amazing from the start. If you're looking for a warm escape during the cold winter months, I recommend it. I'm definitely looking forward to getting my hands on the next in the series, Anchored Hearts.

A fake dating story.

A predictable story that I found very heartwarming. Great character development.

Excited to read the 2nd in this series.
