This fake relationship is just the ticket to warm sandy beaches and dreams of a Floridian vacation on a page. Priscilla turned this romcom into a perfect fictional escape for me with the overcast February skies outside.
Sara is the overlooked kid in an overachieving white collar family. Doctors are everywhere and, while she is successful, her influencer social media business is not up to par. In a desperate move to not look like the family screw up, she makes an agreement with Luis, a local fireman who happens to have time off, to pretend to be the boyfriend who ditched her.
I love the trope, the setting, the cohesion of both families, and all the yummy food descriptions. This is a closed door romance with some serious sizzle. I wish I could head down and take a seat at a table at Miranda's after enjoying a day at the beach. Luckily I have the e-arc to dive right in to Anchored Hearts.

I never had the desire to visit Key West before this book. Oliveras wove lush descriptions of the area into a fun story in a seamless way that made me ACHE to see it in person. She also beautifully incorporated Spanish, so it sounded authentic but also provided context clues to help non-Spanish speakers understand. The story was fun and light, but the characters were authentic and multi-faceted. As I neared the end, I found myself putting the book down repeatedly. Not because it was bad, but because it was so wonderful that I didn’t want it to end. I’ll be picking up Oliveras’ entire backlist.

Bruh I wanted to love this so bad but something was just really missing for me. I think it was just a bit too instalove for me. I just didn't really FEEL it you know. Maybe it was a me problem so I'd say to give it a chance if you're interested.
For the positives, I really liked the setting and the family aspects of each of the main characters. I enjoyed the growth they were able to explore. Just unfortunately couldn't make it work for me.

3 stars - this book was cute and fun. I liked the premise and the chemistry between the characters. Some parts were a bit slow, and I wasn’t expecting the “fade to black” scenes which were a bit disappointing. Luis was a bit too macho for me, but otherwise I liked their relationship. I would recommend if you’re looking for something cute and breezy, and don’t mind the “fade to black” scenes!
This book was just the read I needed during day 9 million of quarantine. It was sweet yet compelling. It had family dynamics and culturícela dynamics, heartbreak, and illness, all of which Oliveras covered with finesse and humor. I couldn’t put this book down and wanted more! I’m so hoping for a sequel in this delightful world of Luis and Sara.
DNF’d, couldn’t suspend my disbelief enough to get into it, despite enjoying the characters so far.
