I typically do not like an age gap trope, but the chemistry that Annabeth Albert builds has me enjoying every story she writes. They are an enjoyable escape and have me smiling with every couple she introduces in story.

5 Stars!

Tight Quarters is book 5 in the Out of Uniform series and can be read as a standalone. This book is about a SEAL and a journalist. The journalist embeds with the SEALs and our MCs connect.

I absolutely loved Bacon. He is so sweet and caring and supportive of his friends, which is amazing. One thing that really struck me in this book, was that Bacon was a former emo, and was also pansexual and proud of that fact. We don’t see many similar characters in books. Hopefully, this can open the door for more.

Spencer came off as sophisticated and really smart. I did love how fast he came to love Bacon, though, and while it was fast, it wasn't instalove.

This book was amazing. I was hooked from the beginning. There were a couple of sad parts that made me tear up but overall Bacon got what the HEA he deserved in the end. I loved the connection between characters and the overall writing style. I also cannot wait for Rooster's book, he is such an interesting guy.

4 stars - It was really good

When a minor injury relegates Petty Officer Bacon to beta team, he finds himself tasked with babysitting a journalist. What he doesn't expect is to find himself falling for the older man.

Bacon and Spencer’s story was very tense. From the very beginning these two had a lot of obstacles they had to work through to be together. It was all very emotional and brought out all the feels for both of them. Albert really knows how to build up tension between characters and create a strong connection between couples.

Bacon has been one of the characters that I really wanted to know more about for a while now. I loved getting to know him and learning about his childhood. Bacon has always been comfortable with himself and his sexuality, but he stays in the closet because he doesn't know how his team will react. When he does come out, I liked that he had the support of his best friend Curly, and that it allowed other members to be open with their sexuality.

Spencer was a great hero. He is in his 40s and is dedicated to his job.  I liked that he is trying to make a difference with his writing, even if he sometimes messes up and pushes people away because of it. While Spencer and Bacon do struggle to figure out a relationship with their demanding careers, I liked that Albert didn’t have their issues prevent them from talking things out eventually. They needed time to compromise and work through what they really wanted for things to work out and I am fine with that.

Overall, I really enjoyed Bacon and Spencer’s story. I am excited to read the next book, even if I am a bit sad that it will be the last one.

Trigger warnings: abusive father; homophobic teammates; bullying and suicide of a partner discussed; suicide of a friend discussed; PTSD
