I really really loved this! The start was a bit slow to get into, but only in the slightest bit and it was more than made up for by the end! Victoria Schwab's writing is absolutely beautiful, and she creates stories that are so complicated, but also simple and real. The world of the Archives is really really interesting to read about and I'm excited to dive into more of these books!

This is one of those rare books that makes you slow down and savor every beautifully chosen word and carefully crafted sentence. The prose is haunting and wonderful, matching the tone of this story of a place called the Archive - where the dead "rest on shelves like books" that only the Librarians can read. It's Mackenzie's job as a Keeper to make sure the copies (essentially ghosts) of the dead, called "Histories", don't get out into the real world and wreak havoc. She must struggle with balancing her life in the Outer and her secret work as a Keeper. Which becomes ever the more difficult as a disruption begins to form from within. The Archived contains such a well constructed world, I was hooked after the first paragraph. I wish I could read books like this 24/7.
Probably my least favorite of her series YA or Adult, but still kept me entertained.
It was actually pretty good. Some parts were a little dry, and I'd like to see Mackenzie in a high school setting, but other than that, I liked it.
I really enjoyed this. It was spooky and sexy and original and fun. Kept me up a couple nights trying to finish it :)

Onlar normal insanlardan daha güçlüler ve bazen kapalı tutuldukları bu yerlerden kaçabiliyorlar. Burada devreye Keepers( Bekçiler) giriyor. Kendilerine verilen anahtarlarla bu History (Geçmiş) adı verilen olguları tekrar uykuya gönderiyorlar. Ve bazen bu kişiler bizim dünyamıza kaçıyorlar. Ama onları yakalamak başka kişilerin görevi...
Tabii birde Kütüphaneciler var, Geçmişler ile uğraşan gizemli insanlar...

Mackenzie dedesinin yerine atanan bir Bekçi, Diğerlerinden farkı ise 12 yaşından beri bu işi yapıyor olması.
Mac'in içinde yalnızlıktan daha büyük bir acı var aslında. Küçük kardeşi öldü. Bunu atlatamayıp hala kardeşinin Geçmiş olarak tutulduğu yere gidiyor ve ona yaşamından bahsediyor.
Kitap Mac'in yeni bir eve taşınması ve bu gizli görevi sürdürmek için yaptığı şeylerle başlıyor. Gerekli kapıları bulmak... Yoğun Geçmiş kaçışları ile uğraşmak... Bir problem var.
Ailesi yeni bir başlangıç için yeni bir yere taşınıyor ve ailesi kahve dükkanı açıyor. Mac gizli görevinden bahsetmeyerek 17 yaşına basmış bir kız. Geçmiş'lerle neredeyse her gün dövüşüyor, biz bunların bir kaçına şahit oluyoruz hatta. Üzerinde öyle çok baskı var ki.
Sonra Başka bir Bekçi ile tanışıyor Mac. Kendi yaşlarında ondan daha kısa süredir bu görevi üstlenmiş biri ama oda kendi yaralarını taşıyor. Yıllar sonra ilk defa Wes ile huzur buluyor ama bu durum çok fazla sürmüyor. Bu yeni yerde bir problem var. Geçmişler durmaksızın kaçıyor ve Mac kendini bir Geçmiş'i saklarken buluyor. Çünkü o kimliğini kaybetmiyor, peki ya kardeşi de kaybetmezse? delirmezse? Tekrar onunla birlikte olabilir mi, eskisi gibi?
Şimdi konuyu az çok biliyorsunuz, biraz ortalardan başlamak istiyorum şu Geçmiş olayı. Mac bu sakladığı Geçmiş ile kitabın bir yerinde öpüşüyor, ay allahım nasıl iğrendim! Bu Geçmişler benim gözümde zombiden farksız ve sen zombileri öldürürsün onlarla öpüşmezsin. işte bu kadar. (Zombi dedim ama daha çok beslenme ihtiyacı duymayan vampir gibiler...)
İkincisi Wes, kitabın sonunda ona ne oluyor? İşte bunu çok merak ediyorum. Kütüphanecilerin gerçek kimlikleri açığa vuruluyor ve benim aklımdaki soru şu. Wes insan mı ondu yoksa bir Kütüphaneci mi?
Kitapta bol bol dövüş sahneleri var ve ben buna bayıldım. Kızımız gerçekten her olaydan kolayca sıyrılan bir tip olarak aklınızda kalmıyor.
Kitabın sonu hem tatmin etti hem etmedi. İkinci kitabı okumadan olmaz yani.
Yazarın yarattığı dünyaya bayıldım. Wes esas oğlan olmasına rağmen pek beni heyecanlandırmadı ama o öpüştüğü zombimsi ve eski Bekçi Owen daha tutkulu ve bu role layık gibiydi tabii kızımız nekrofili değilse uzak durmalı. Zombileri sevmiyorum.
Mac gerçekten hoş bir karakterdi hareketleri, dedikleri ile çakışmadı. Sevdim onu yani, ikinci kitaba göre en sert kadın karakterler listemde bile yer alabilir.

It was slow getting into the book but in the end I did enjoy it. The world is confusing especially at first so don't give up early on. I would recommend this book
It's so difficult to actually star rate this book. This is one of those instances when I really need GoodReads to have half stars, because I'm definitely in between a 3 and 4 star. AAAAH this decision is hard! But for now I'm going with a 4 star rating because I feel lenient :P
Schwab is an expert at creating fantastical worlds with compelling characters. This YA novel still help my attention. Victoria or V.E.: Doesn't matter to me!
I overall, really enjoyed this book. There were a couple little things I was questionable about, but I think everyone would have their own opinions about them. I'm glad I gave this book a go, and I'll probably get the second book sometime soon.
