Jestliže jste někdo, jehož očekávání je tak velké jako Mt. Everest, potřebujete super stlačovadlo, které očekávání zmenší na pidimidi částečku. Je to důležité proto, abyste ve výsledku mohli býti překvapeni.

Achjo. :/

Návod na čtení:
Zatněte zuby a přelouskejte půlku knihy. Jakmile se objeví OWEN, začne se svítat na lepší časy..

ALE..Popis samotného Archivu je super:) Vlastně, všechny popisy jsou super! :D

While the story was imaginative and interesting the writing was a bit trite. The dialogue often seemed forced and trying too hard to be witty. I really hated the "a small voice in her head whispered blah blah blah". It made the main character sound schizophrenic. It's first person narrative, I get that everything is in your head.
Would love to see it as a movie though.

3.5 out of 5 stars

Mackenzie's six word memoir: "My actions don't have any consequences"

Whenever Mac did anything wrong, she got off with a slap on the wrist. This bothered me so much because she messed so many things up! Also, she would break rules and get basically a promotion. Her "relationship" with Owen presented her as a naive idiot who completely gave into a guy who just randomly made out with her. She magically "felt better" with his kissing even though she just saw her baby brother basically die again. Is it bad that I gave the book an extra half star because Owen tricked her? I felt like it justified his actions. Wesley betrayed her, and she just kind of ignored it. He snooped into her mind with a kiss, and she never mentions it again! I don't care if he almost died, be angry at him! ARGHHH I also felt like a couple of things like the slipping and the reason why the Archive was a secret were not explained thoroughly and left me a little confused. Lastly, I felt like Mac was a jerk to her family. I understand that she needs to lie to them, but it would not kill her to spend some time with them. She abandoned her parents so she could aimlessly wander around the Narrows and not do her job.

However, the concept was amazing and unique. I thought the plot was very well-executed with an appropriate pace for the complexity of the plot. The writing is beautiful, even if it is a little dense. This is why it got 3.5 stars. The climax was the best part of the book, and I read the last 50 pages very quickly.

I will read the next book and hope that Mackenzie is less selfish and naive.

BTW This review was better but my computer decided to freeze while I was writing it, and I didn't have the patience to type everything out again.

The book was a little hard to get into but after a few chapters I couldn't put it down. cant wait to read book two.
fast-paced

i read 3 chapters and it was just not doing it for me. I don’t think I like first person narration anymore, and Mackenzie’s voice was too cringe for my taste. I know it’s just 3 chapters but the world building and style wasn’t what I imagined when I read the premise 🤷 oh well (also maybe i’m too old for YA)
