SUCH A GOOD BOOK..

AND GUYLINER.

4.5

Wow.

Actual Rating: 4.5 Stars

Mind=Blown.

Full review to come. Eventually.

Oh my god!!! I died reading this book. This is me talking from the afterlife, where I still cringe because this book is so UNDERRATED. This is the perfect YA book that every teenager should read and you don't need to fight me on this because you will do nothing but waste your time.

4.5.

This book can be creepy and very confusing. I would have given it 5 stars but at some points in the book I was like what am I reading? This doesn't make sense. The end really comes together.

I went into this book expecting to be let down. Lately I've come across all these books with amazing concepts but the writing was bad. However, The Archived did not disappoint!

This is one of the most unique storylines I've ever read. I loved the world building and all the intricate connections between people and events. There were many likeable characters, but there was also enough mystery that you didn't quite trust anyone.

Schwab's writing is amazing! She uses phrases/expressions that I've read in many books but somehow makes them new and her own. Every sentence is strung perfectly and the book flowed really well.

There were so many layers in this novel and each one was just as good as the other. Her home life was entertaining and the idea of living in what use to be an old hotel was really awesome. Her other life as a Keeper was also really interesting and there were always unexpected twists that kept you hooked.

I also liked how a few sections of flashbacks with Da were weaved into the book to help explain how things worked in the Archive and as a Keeper. Though he is dead, Da is brought to life though Mac's memories and I enjoyed their interactions as she learns about her future job.

Overall this is one of the best books I've read this year, I'm about to order the sequel, and I even bought the first book in her other series, A Darker Shade of Magic, today.

"Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books". Mackenzie Bishop is a Keeper. It is her job to make sure that when Histories wake up, they cannot escape. Someone is deliberately waking up and altering Histories. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive will fall.

Things I Liked
+I really liked the premise of this book. There were no other supernatural creatures; [a:Victoria Schwab|3099544|Victoria Schwab|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1336685438p2/3099544.jpg] created her own breed of supernatural being.
+The main character, Mackenzie. Mackenzie is so strong. She has to be, in order to be a Keeper. No one else in her family knows about her job.
+The action. Holy action, Batman! The action is nonstop from page one!

Things I Didn't Like
-I really disliked how the author did not say that Da was Mackenzie's grandfather until farther along in the story (unless I missed it). It was quite confusing, and I started to think that her parents were divorced or something along those lines. *Even in the blurb, she doesn't explain who Da is.
-The Ending. The ending is really the last 30 pages, and while having a quick ending works well with the action, I almost wish there would have been more detail.

I rated it four stars. I really like the action, and I am definitely going to put the rest of the series on my to-read pile.
