I really, really wanted to love this book. But I just cannot with all of the plot additions that simply do not follow logical reasoning. That the characters in the book keep repeating that this or that isn’t fair seems like a self-own. If there are some inconsistencies or points that don’t make a lot of sense, I can easily bypass them for the sake of the story. But this book just keeps bringing them on and on.

My patience ended at the part where, because Kolis called the meeting first, he’s not bound by a rule that essentially tied the hands of the MMCs regarding preparing for battle. In a world where “balance” is crucial and discussed ad nauseum, a lot of plot points like this make no sense. It unfortunately did not get better.

This is also another “building up to a war book” with discussions on how many soldiers we have vs them. I personally don’t like war and battles, and I certainly don’t read these stories to read about battle strategy.

I do love all of the characters, though, and love their parts in this book when they’re not involved in the above.

I found myself skimming a lot of this book :( the beginning just felt very long and slow. I loved the first couple books of this series so I was very sad that this was how it ended.

favorite quote: “How did I get so lucky to have your love?” “You weren’t lucky, liessa.” Ash’s lips brushed mine. “I was.”

This is the most vast world ever constructed. I have so many thoughts. This was an incredible book, however I don't necessarily think it should have been the final book in their story. We are missing so so much, so I do hope we get some novellas or bonus scenes or something.
I used an entire box of kleenex for this massive 873 page book (Indigo Special Edition). Will all the loss we experienced If felt like there were truly high stakes.
I was left slightly wanting during the final battle. She raises an army of the dead and we really didn't get to see that much of it. I would have liked to see it. I'm also not sure how she raised the dead (dead draken included) but was unable to bring Crolee and Kars back after they fell (which was BEFORE she raised the dead).
I think the part that left me to most sad is we didn't get any time with Ash as a father, or them as a family.
I totally understand we have Primal coming up next year so some of that will be explained in there. But I'm still left so curious as to why Sera went to ground. I assume it was sometime after Malec was entombed and sometimes around the time that Poppy was born. But it feels a little incomplete that we didn't get to see a hint of that in BoBaA.
I also am going to need a Novella, if not an entire book for Reaver and Attes.
I need PoBaA so bad because I need for Reaver to go find Jadis and bring her home. I hope to fates Malec can be redeemed and doesn't end up like Kolis or Kyn.
Also MAN! Attes meeting with Casteel and Poppy/Sotoria is going to be AWKWARD and I cannot wait!!
Okay back to crying for a bit.
