I liked this book more than the first one but there were still many things that could use improvement. The Mystery element, for example, was much better in this book but it still needs work. This one also followed the pattern of the last one in which, until somewhere near the end when some major clue was discovered, there was basically nothing to point out the culprit.
There wasn't the feeling of things falling into place in your head.

The liked the characters better in this book. I kind of liked Drake in this one despite the occasional unnecessary bouts of anger. Noelle was a different case. Many times, I almost started to like her but then she opened her mouth and I wanted to shoot her again. With her gun.

I never actually thought that I would read someone saying or thinking 'I am an independant woman' because of how ridiculous that would be. I mean, I don't have anything against independence but I never thought someone would say the actual words. But they're said in this book. THRICE!

And the final and biggest problem.
Why is it, that for Noelle to be smart, every other person has to be stupid? Why can't she just be smarter than other people instead of being the only smart person? It pissed me off so much that even though there were many other police officers (three of them were her brothers) and yet no one could do shit. And that was only so that Noelle could be concidered smarter than them. It says a lot about the strangth of the storyline.

That all I have to say. I will finish the series but, unlike with the first book, I no longer have many expectations. I'm hoping that the series will get better but I've got no expectations.

One of my favourite things about this series is the perfect blend between high end mystery and sultry, sexy romance. It's dramatic and always leaves you wanting more, however, there are some things that I can't get over and that is the predictability of the mystery, I guessed it all within 100 pages of the book and that's not what I want. But Noelle is a bitch and her relationships with those around her are everything to me!

I absolutely love this series so far. the slow build between Noelle and Drake is so refreshing over all the fast paced love stories out there right now.

I don't quite know how I feel about this story, so I'll start with a quick recap while I gather my thoughts better.

This book picks up give or take a week after the last book ended with Drake getting an agreement from Noelle to go out on a date. However, this book reveals that she's spending her days busily avoiding him and his date. She's childishly escaping all his attempts at communication. When life actually kicks in and she goes on that date, she finds that Drake might actually really know the real her. It scares her and when Drake walks out in the middle of the date because of his own issues, it gives Noelle the reason she needs to avoid him even more. It's her Nonna that makes her realize that she needs to have a real conversation with Drake about her feelings. They finally have a real sit-down in this novel to express their fears and feelings about their relationship, and actually pushes them that much closer. All the while yet another murderer strikes out in the little town of Holly Woods. It once again adds another depth to Noelle and Drake's relationship as they have to battle their individual protectiveness and insecurities as danger once again lurking around the corner.

Overall, this book didn't have the same captivating magic that the previous book employed. I felt like the only significant development between Noelle and Drake happened before the midpoint of the plot. They still had some great dialogue, though the tension was toned down as the two were closer and more accepting of their feelings. So the interesting romantic development the first one possessed and even its amusing dialogue were all not as well matched in this story. However, the murder mystery still added a depth of intrigue that helped push the story along.

The reason this is so hard to review is because it is a sequel/middle book to the series. I've always found them hard to review without the fun getting-to-know you period and without a real resolution. I'm not sure how many books are in this series, but the blurb at the end of this book indicated that it's not over yet. I look forward to what more is to come for Drake and Noelle.

Tangled Bond, book 2 in the Holly Woods Files series, picks up shortly after Twisted Bond ended. One of my favorite things about Emma is that we never have to wait too long for the next book. Thank God. Noelle is still struggling with her feelings for Drake. She knows there's a crazy mutual attraction, but she's scared. Drake has a unique way of pushing all her buttons. The good and the bad ones. When another one of Noelle's clients is murdered and she's hired to work with the police department, Drake takes the opportunity to push her. He wants to try to make it work, but Noelle isn't so sure. How can you want to punch and kiss someone at the same time? The case brings new twists and turns and uncovers some secrets in town, ones people do not want coming out. Noelle and Drake again find themselves being hunted while hunting the killer. Drake wants to protect her, but she thinks she can protect herself. Will Noelle realize her feelings are stronger than she wants to admit before it's too late? Can Drake convince her to take a chance on him?
Drake is still sexy as sin and I think I wiped away drool more than once. He's just so hot. Demanding while being sweet, alpha while admitting she's his equal. And, the eyes. Omg, the eyes. And the hair. Yes, the hair. Wait, the arms…hell! Noelle is one of my favorite leading ladies. Tough as nails, independent, smart, sexy, sassy yet vulnerable. Emma Hart has done it again my friends! She writes humor, mystery, intrigue, suspense and sex in a class by herself. I can't get enough of Drake and Noelle (and her brothers). Bring on book 3!

"I'm not sure I'd cope if you actually liked several things about me."
Oh, I do. Your eyes, Your arms. Your butt. Your cock.
His eyebrows slowly go up, and his lips for a smirk. The pure amusement etching its way across his features has blood rushing to my cheeks.
"I said that out loud, didn't I?"
He nod. Smugly.

"For the record, cupcake, I happen to find your feisty side sexy as fuck. And I never said demure. I said it's okay not to be a hardass sometimes and let the men in your life be the men."

"Are you trying to drive me into craziness so I agree to what you want?"
"No." One word. Hard. Simple. Growly. "I want you to fuckin' want me . Is that too much to ask?"

Drake Nash is a walking, talking, highly irritating spectacular kissing machine.

Another day, another murder. The MCs are just getting some footing on their tentative relationship when they were thrown together on a case. I really ❤️ them - they're both alpha, passionate and stubborn, resulting in entertaining banter/fight sessions and steamy make-up sex sessions.

I did find her a tad frustrating with her refusal to articulate her feelings, and his alpha-ness was at asshole level at one point. Nevertheless, their chemistry just sparks off the page (love the scene where she finally gives in), and I just enjoy them so much. The mystery is solid, her brothers are amazing, and crazy Nonna is hilarious. It's great read overall!

Ahhh!!! Can we change the title? Remove the Tangled and make it Cupcake Bond or Tangled Cupcake Bond or... I don't know but the cupcake seriously needs to be in the title!

I swear the Holly Wood Files is going to make me crave cupcakes every time I read this series! And you know what's the tragic part? I don't have Gigi's Cupcakes! CUPCAKES ARE NOT EASILY AVAILABLE HERE!!! What do I do about my craving now?!

But seriously, if you for a second thought that Twisted Bond was fun, sexy and got you twisted in all its mystery then you are in for a surprise because, Tangled Bond will leave you tangled in its intricate web which is the perfect blend of sexy, sassy, romance and the mystery that will leave you reeling.

You thought figuring out the killer in the first book was hard? HA!! in this book Emma Hart makes it damn near impossible! I mean HELLO!!! Can I get one of the suspects/killer right?!

"I want more with you," he growls.
"Even if it means we threaten to kill each other ten times a day and argue fifty. That's your definition of love. Hate so passionate it's real and tangible. And sweet shit, Noelle, I hate the fuck outta you more often that I think I even like you."

*sigh* Hart's Heroes are so damn easy to fall in love with! Every single one of them! And Detective Drake Nash is no less.
No matter how much Noelle denies Drake is the man for her and he is not afraid to tell her that. He is strong, stubborn, passionate, and a true alpha-male.
If Noelle was a real person and if she would have still been fighting off the attraction between her and Drake, I would have told her that Drake is mine! But then this heartfelt moment happens and I your heart can't help but stutter and race <3

"I want to be yours." My words are so quiet, and I stroke my thumb down the side of his neck.
"I want it so badly."
"Then be mine," he murmurs.
"It's that simple, bella."
"Make me, " I murmur back."Make me yours."

And then Nonna + Noelle = SASS OVERLOAD!! As if their wit and feisty attitude isn't enough to handle one at a time, them clashing together ends up them having such conversations:

"Nonna, I love you, but no woman needs a man. We already get periods--why the hell do we need something else in our life that's going to force us to eat copious amounts of icecream?"

Tangled Bond is a fun and sexy read and the intricacies and mystery makes it an enjoyable read. I highly recommend the Holly Wood Files Series to everyone! You won't be disappointed!
