I believe this book was just as good as the first. This one is my favorite of the series so far.

Zara hasa few pixie problems, she is half pixie, her father a pixie king is locked up in a prison house with other pixies who want to kill her and other king pixies want to turn her to make her their queen. There seems to be a parade of them coming to town to eat (murder),rule and have her. Her love Nick, the wolf has some competition when a Pixie King Astley behaves honorably toward Zara. He shows her a side of the pixies she did not believe existed. Everything goes wrong, her life is in extreme danger and Astley may be the one she has to turn to. Her friends and her family all warn her, but she has to make her own choices.
I really liked Need, the first book, and I enjoyed continuation even more. It is a wonderful fairytale with a well detailed world and strongly developed characters. My only complaint is that it is too short, I wanted more. It is a YA book but it never had the teen angst feel that many books have.

I didn't like it as much as the first in the series, since it didn't list the titles of the chapters with phobia's, which I found very interesting. It was well written and I highly enjoyed reading it, until someone died, but didn't?

I liked this book better than the first. It's very easy to read, and I enjoyed the character development. However, I became annoyed with Zara. She's extremely immature and doesn't stop to think before acting. I'm interested on finding out if everything was just a Pixie trick.

I was so frustrated by some of the events in the book that i had to put i tdown. I picked it up agian about a week later and I am glad I did so. I loved it! looking forward to the next book.

This book was amazing. it makes me sad thought that nick almost dies but I think i like astley with Zara better than Nick even though i absolutly love nick. ohhh i couldnt choose who i want her to be with good thing its not up to me.

Zara is a little on the whiny side but latter she finally gets a backbone. So if whiny characters bug you I do not recommend this book. The story is good enough to offset the whiny characters in my opinion though. Great plot line. Intriguing and unique story. A little repetitive in parts but still a very good read.

The second book of the Need series continues with where it last left off. I was really excited to read more of Zara, whom I thought was an independent, loving person, but I ended up uber dissapointed. Captivate is a pretty ironic name, since I experienced nothing close to captivation. Authors shouldn't put thoughts into their readers' heads from their titles. This second installment deals with the unmentionable importance of Nick and Zara's (sappy and pukey) love for each other. It was cute at first, but the repetition of it bugged me! This book made me doubt how much I liked Need in the first place. Why would you make me doubt my (positive) feelings towards your first book from/with this second book?! You've ruined me, Jones. I won't be visiting your next book, Entice, either.
Another negative: Jones' writing style had NO flow and the plot had NO shape to it. All I noticed was the consistency to the development of the two lovebirds' relationship. I figured something was to happen soon to hinder their 'togetherness', and if that was the case..I would say "forget it", since it would be totally predictable. But I just couldn't wait to see if my prediction played out..Zara and Nick's (gross) infatuation for each other made me want to close the book and burn it immediately (but I didn't burn it only because it was a library book). :/

Carrie Jones is one of my favorite authors. I can only hope there will be a book # 3 about Zara and Nick.
