Don't forget what was written at the beginning of this book:

"This is not a literary masterpiece. It's not even literary masterpiece adjacent."

"Do not take this book too seriously. It was written to be a fun read with a bit of "that's fucked up" thrown into the mix."

That being said, I loved it!

Roman was a sweetheart, and I actually didn't find him as unhinged as Rennick from book 1 (but he had his moments).

Violet was sweet, and Vivian wasn't.

You know how things will end, but it was fun to read how they eventually got there. And you can't help but feel sad for the MCs, about what they had to go through and the years that were stolen from them.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked these characters much better than book 1! My fave from both books are definitely the familiars though (animal companions).

Definitely check out this book if you like low stakes fantasy with a side of morally gray unhinged MMC.

This book was a good quick read, super cute! It has some of the “ dark romance” in it but not much. Roman does some “ morally Gray” things. But it’s not EXTREME. If you’re looking for something fun to read, this is definitely it if you’re looking for something more fantasy driven with magic and plot driven I wouldn’t recommend it.
I did love this book a lot, I just wish it had a little more plot to it.

Minimal plot as warned, but I was not expecting this much angst and yearning, and it was more emotional than I had anticipated.

Roman was typically broody/quiet as he was pretty much isolated until he was 11. Violet was such a bright, mischievous child, and she brought Roman to life with her antics and made his childhood so much more bearable. As they grew up, Roman was both adorable and unhinged when it came to her. He spent 10 years trying to figure out how to make Violet his mate and refused to give up on her, even when she asked for space because she couldn't betray Vivian (her sister/Roman's mate).

Once again, I fell in love with the animal familiars and their personalities/attitudes. War was always by Violet's side whenever Roman wasn't, keeping her company and protecting her as if he were hers instead. I also loved the friend group and their hilarious dynamics.

I enjoyed this book, but not quite as much as the first one. It felt a bit too long and drawn out, whereas Viciously Yours was a much shorter fun romp. Too much plot circling.
