Was a quick, enjoyable read!
Why not 4 stars? Overall the story was good but sth was missing for me. Maybe that changes with established set-up/characters in book 2.
Maybe I missed a little bit more conversation considering the two mains troubled past - obv. that will definitely be expected to happen at latest in the fuethwr books, but maybe it would have given me a nicer feel for the couple!

Love side characters (Merlin, Arthur and Gary), but hated how brainless Gary seemed in the second half... like what... what jappend to his personality? Just because of a guy he met 1 day prior. Bit of a weird development, maybe story set-up for future?!

Well this was a delightful start for a series! It wasn't really MAGIC, so much as a guy who has a talent for finding lost things or hidden things. It makes him a perfect plumber, always able to find that hidden leak. It also makes him handy to the cops, and in this case, he helps find a missing girl, who turns out to be dead. Enter his old nemesis/former crush, and now out PI, who's been hired by the dead woman's parents. These guys are like oil and water, but there's a fair amount of history there, and it's interesting to find out what, and also watch them trying to figure out whodunnit.

from my calibre library:
I started this book knowing it's a series, and the romance was absolutely disappointing. I was expecting more friction, given that there's a bullying history, but nope they hooked up way too fast, damn it! The mystery part is okay, didn't really care much about it, but I'd say I enjoyed that bit more than the romance.

Hmm,where to start on this one? So I literally stumbled across this book and thought oh male romance in England gotta read it and I had an absolute blast. 4 wrenches for this funtastic read that was amaze-a-balls!! Now this book is so sarcastic and funny that it had me laughing my arse off on the train and at the hospital (which was embarrassing to say the least)

"Oh come on - it'd have to be a coincidence, otherwise." "Coincidences happen. That's why there is a name for them."
"There's a word for unicorns too, but I haven't seen a right lot of them prancing down the High Street lately." There's a word for smartarses, come to that."

What is every person's worst nightmare from school? Correct meeting up with the boy/girl now man/woman who you had a crush on in school. The one that took the mick out of you so much and started calling you Poofski. What's even worse? Meeting the guy as a grown up and finding out that he is gay!

Tom Petreski is a plumber (by day) and a person who finds things (by night). DI Dave Southgate calls Tom in to look for a Melanie Porter but it turns out though that she is dead. Phil Morrison is a PI been employed by Melanie's parents to find the real culprit. Phil and Tom go way back. There is a fab plot and story going on here and the banter between Tom and Phil is a riot not to mention as a fellow English women that I love the accents and the terminology used in the book and the sarcasm is too die for.

"By six o'clock, the butterflies in my stomach had muted into flying elephants all flapping around like Dumbo drunk on Champagne."

The best thing though is that there is a second book. Wheeee!!!

Nice, very nice. The plot is well paced, well timed, great characters and even the secondary players are rounded out. The murder mystery is suitably mysterious as well.

Writing was awesome, suspense was good enough, my only problem was with romance bit.

4.5 Stars It was even better the second time. Even though I knew who done it, I enjoyed the mystery and the solving of it. I liked the snark between Tom and Phil and how the feelings developed. I found Tom's voice humorous and entertaining.

Merrow is an auto-buy for me so when this book was listed as available for pre-order, I jumped on it. LIke her other books, Merrow's great sense of humor coupled with incredible storytelling made this book a real joy to read. I kept "seeing" the scenes in the book like a TV show on BBCA. Someone should definitely turn this book into a made-for-TV series.
