This book was fantastic!

This is more a mystery than a romance, and I perfectly okay with it. I really liked Tom and his gift. Particularly because it's not a solve-it-all gift, but a small, useful in his day-to-day life gift.

Phil... I wasn't really fond of him at the beginning. But then, I don't really like people who lash out at other people because they can't deal with their own shortcomings, so it wasn't a surprise. But, by the end, I wasn't so annoyed with him. Tom is still my favourite, though :P

When the book ends the romance is still in that point where it can go in any way, but I liked that, too. I'm not really fond of Insta-love, and these two need to work in a lot of issues. As we have at least four more books in this series I think they'll manage.

A great mystery, and a romance with lovely possibilities :)

I did really enjoy this, but I was more interested in Tom than the murder.

This has to be the wittiest book ever, I loved Tom and his smart arsed remarks, had to do some digging and the English slang, but I made it out a live.

reread: july/26/2018 i’m really in the mood for romance, but i really don’t want to read one i won’t like so i decided to go for a reread

original review: i don't really have a lot to say about this. i wasn't amazing, but i still liked it. there were some aspects that i was kind of :/ about, but they didn't make me hate it. i'll probably read the other books in the series, but i'm not rushing to get my hands on it.

Gotta move to the next one right away.

3.5 stars. I'm glad this is the start of a series, because although I think Tom is adorable I agree with several other characters who say he can do better than Phil, who has a chip on his shoulder that might as well be a boulder. Hopefully he'll lighten up as the series goes on and/or we'll learn more about why he is such a difficult person. I'm also curious about how Tom's special gift will be integrated into the mysteries moving forward.

I really enjoyed this mystery. It kept me entertained and intrigued and the author managed to make Tom's 'gift' feel believable and unobtrusive in an otherwise contemporary narrative.

I loved Tom's voice and character. He is a little lacking in self-awareness but I guess that keeps the reader feeling a little but ahead of him at times.

As a Brit I also loved the British-ness of the setting and tone.
