This one has been on my list for a long while and I'm glad I finally got a chance to read it.

Lets start with the mystery, while I do love a good mystery I can get incredibly bored if it is done wrong, but this kept me guessing and on my toes. The main characters were well developed with plenty of awkwardness, banter and sexual tension that made me want to start the next book right away and continue the story with the PI and the psychic. Can't wait to see where this series goes!

Alright, please don't shoot me, but I've read a couple of Merrow's books in the past and I wasn't impressed. In fact, I think I stated that I was done reading the author. I must have had a bad day when I said that last year, but whatever, I gave in and read Pressure Head.

I loved Tom! He made the book for me (he's the reason for an extra star). Although, he's not much of a businessman, leaving clients hanging, canceling appointments, being late, etc. Phil Morrison? Yeah, he can go to hell. I am NOT a fan. Did he ever once SINCERELY apologize? Cause I didn't see it. It was like he justified his behavior by saying "I never laid a hand on you, minus the pushing and shoving" or something along those lines. Really? ARGH! I think I would have liked this more if Phil would have opened up more and said he was sorry and meant it. We know next to nothing about the man. What does Phil see in Tom and vice versa? How the hell can Tom forgive him? UGH!

Not sure if I want to read the 2nd book, but maybe we'll learn more about dickhead Phil?

I thought the idea of a supernaturally gifted gay plumber was super interesting, and surprisingly well-handled. The plot was interesting, the characters compelling, and I adored Tom and his POV.

I wasn't quite sold on the romance bit, however. I thought the chemistry and tension between Tom and Phil was great, but Phil comes off as a bit of a mystery, and I thought Tom was a little too trusting and forgiving.
SpoilerThis is the guy who verbally bullied you, and was part of the gang that chased you through the streets and into oncoming traffic...Which I might be okay with, if Phil wasn't a prick about it half the time. Half the time he's wracked with guilt, but the rest he seems pretty content to blame Tom for it. And I get that he clearly has issues with sexuality that he likes to blame on Tom, but all the more reason not to get involved. I just thought Tom's lack of real anger felt unrealistic.
Spoiler Not to mention there are a ton of hints dropped about his shady/mysterious/painful past, but none of them are followed up on in this book, which is really frustrating. It felt like the author was almost trying to trap me into reading the rest of the series, just so I can find out what all these secrets are, which is super annoying.

I do plan on reading the rest of the series, as the writing was good, and I adored Tom. Hoping we get a better handle on Phil, and I see more compelling reasons for Tom to give him the time of day.

A fun story of murder, romance, and little English towns, Pressure Head was an enjoyable read with characters that felt real (if a little cliche). Still, the common pairing of a well-polished, good-looking man and a scruffy (if handsome) goof didn't deter from the story or take away from the mystery surrounding it all.

While I do hope the future titles deal a little more with the slight supernatural element that colors Merrow's universe, the nature of Tom's unnatural ability to find things isn't really the focus of the story--so it doesn't really matter that we don't have all the answers quite yet.

I'm definitely going to pick up the next in the series to see what else is going to happen to our psychic plumber and his PI.

Phil was the worst love interest I kinda hated him. Not enough groveling. Didn’t feel any chemistry between the characters. Also they really skimmed over Phil’s dead husband. Will not be continuing series

Enjoyable. I will confess that as an American I was occasionally baffled by "local lingo" but still really like the book.

Might have been higher but ‘bully turned romance’ stories are bleh to me.
