Really enjoyed this read, though some segments and characters more than others. I like how each chapter was a self-contained horror story in itself, and contrary to a lot of other reviews I've read, I don't feel the ending was rushed. To cover all of the distinct characters was always going to be a challenge but everyone got their moment and the story had a satisfying conclusion.

This was quite good. The stories increased in creepiness as the book went on, and personally I found the later ones much more interesting than the early ones. The writing is good, though some of the "morals" of each story (you will know what I mean if you have read it) are little forced. I think this element of the book could have been more subtly woven.

Spoiler The twist in the final chapter was pretty unexpected and I would have liked a sprinkling of a few more hints throughout - I did have a couple of theories along similar lines, but I think there are certain elements that I wouldn't have known would be possible in-universe.

Personally I think it would have been better without the epilogue.

BOOOOORINGGGG

At first, I was turned off by this book. Not because it was poorly written, but because it was not what I had expected or desired from it.

However, once I had tempered my own expectations, a delightfully terrifying tale began to weave itself before me, and I began to enjoy the horror within.

Thirteen Storeys, with thirteen stories, all coalescing about Banyan Court, with an ending that I had hoped would be the focus of the book in the beginning, but when finishing, I'm glad it came at the end.
dark mysterious slow-paced

I enjoyed the premise of this book and some of the individual stories were quite good but the ending seemed extremely rushed. I wanted more from the dinner party as the whole book leads up to it. It also becomes slightly confusing with the final chapter switching between the characters.

I did also find there were quite a few spelling mistakes throughout the novel which is a pet peeve of mine.

Overall, it wasn't horrible but also wasn't my favorite.
