Veronica Rossi's writing has improved with every single book in this trilogy. As has her ability to weave plots - so many times this novel had me laughing one minute and in floods of tears the moment I turned the page. Though it wasn't ideal considering half the time I was reading this in public whilst on holiday. I absolutely flew through this book.

It's very rare that I'm completely satisfied with a finale book but I can't think of anything that I wasn't happy with in this one. I mean certain events left me bawling (I'll talk more about that after) but they were necessary. The pace of this book felt more consistent than the first two, there were never really any slow points and it constantly had me on the edge of my seat... or rather sun lounger.

I'm incredibly sad that I've finished this series, I fell head over heels for Aria, Perry and Roar... mainly Roar if I'm honest. I wasn't a huge fan of Perry and Aria to begin with but the way they've developed over the series was wonderful. I think I say in every review how much I prefer flawed characters, the ones that have some growing to do. They feel more real.

SpoilerWe first meet everyone again hiding in a cave attempting to shelter from the ever worsening Aether Storms. By everyone I mean dweller and outsider alike...which as you can imagine made for some rather interesting dynamics. This was one of my favourite parts of the novel, I loved the snarky comments. Particularly between Soren and Brooke - I knew something was going to happen between them. Perry was already a leader but this arrangement essentially forced Aria into becoming a voice for the dwellers, a responsibility she took very seriously. And that she did well with.

For the most part the core group worked well together. Perry created a team consisting on Aria, Soren, Roar, Brooke and Jupiter with the objective to break into Sable and Hess' base. Veronica Rossi clearly loves playing with familial relationships, considering what happened with Perry and Vale and now between Soren and his father. Admittedly, it makes for excellent reading.

In this novel Roar was still trying to come to terms with the loss of Liv, a death I don't think anyone was prepared for. As a result during the mission to infiltrate the base Roar ran from the group on his own mission. Vengeance. This was a pivotal moment in the book and written masterfully. Roar left, so Aria got shot and virtually lost the use of her arm, Perry and Cinder both got captured. Now, not only was Roar angry he was consumed with guilt - and rightly so. This series more than most seems to play on the snowball effect. One things leads to another and so on and so on. If Roar hadn't run off the most harrowing part of this novel may not have come into play.

Cinder's Death. I'm still not happy but I understand why it happened. I am thankful that we got to know more about Cinder and his part in getting to the Still Blue. I also loved how they named the new city at the end of the novel Cinder. It was the perfect way to close out the trilogy.

This is without question one of my favourite trilogies.

Well written. Great ending to the story. I loved every bit of it

I loved it but it has left me emotionally drained. This is all I can write about it for now.

I first knew there was a problem with my reading when...The conclusion to this series, a series I LOVED could not hold my attention. This is, I'm sure through no fault of this book. My kindle is stalled at 50% and I just can't find the will to read on. Will they ever reach the Still Blue? I don't know. If you're considering this book, it's just as good at the first two, I'm sure, don't be put off by me.

**Will contain spoilers to the previous books in the series**

Into the Still Blue was the perfect example for me of wanting to read a book SO badly, but not at the same time. I got my review copy way back in September, and kept putting it off… and putting it off… I seriously did not want this series to end. I finally sucked it up and read it over New Years.

It’s not a secret of mine that while I loved Aria and Perry, Roar was my boy. I just freaking adored him, and if he was to hopelessly fall in love with Aria and ride off into the still blue with her, I wouldn’t have been sad. Don’t worry, it didn’t happen though! My love for Roar held strong in Into the Still Blue. He was SO moody though, and heartbroken over Liv and my heart ached for him the entire book. Aria was still the same headstrong, defiant, strong-willed girl that we seen from book one and I’m so glad that her personality didn’t change, except for the better. Too often we see the main character, weaken during the course of a series, but not here :) I thought Perry grew a lot in the final installment, and I really enjoyed seeing that. I always liked Perry, and I enjoyed that he was always for the Tides but you really see that in action. As far as the other secondary characters go, I still retained all my love for them and my feelings didn’t change except for BROOKE! I just despised her… and then I slowly grew to be ok with her in Into the Still Blue. I loved that, knowing I walked away from the series, enjoying SO many characters that had such an important place throughout the story.

The plot itself was much, MUCH, slower than i expected. Like incredible. I expected so much action, and while there was quite a bit, I felt like it was just missing something. There was a bit of a twist that surprised me … other than that nothing really shocked me.

Now… the ending. I felt like it was a bit… anticlimactic? I don’t know, I was expecting this HUGE THING and then… I was a bit let down? I enjoyed the ending, don’t get me wrong, and I certainly shed some tears (of course) at one point, but I felt it was lacking. And I am incredibly pissed off about a certain incident … the only thing that WASNT perfect (which you will understand when you read it).

For the finale of a series, it was good. Everything was wrapped up, it wasn’t open-ended and left you wondering why, but I guess I just expected to be blown away and I wasn’t. I loved seeing my favorite characters again, and I love how there ending is however and that is enough to satisfy me.

All I have to say in summary is read this if you have started this series. You need to know how it ends, and you need to have the feels it gives you.

ooooohhhhh I can't believe that this series is over!! I loved everything about this book. The relationship between Aria and Perry is sooo strong and healthy, I forgot what it felt like to read such a romance...
The writing is so good that it made me hate the villain so much. Sable is definitely a Joffrey or Ramsey Bolton. I was yelling and asking why that mf wasn't dead yet. And the things he said made me want to vomit, ugh.
My heart aches for Cinder and still Roar, cause he lost Liv.
Can't wait to read the book about him!

AFTER READING:

I honestly don't know what it was that I expected form this book. A lot of people really loved it while others were disappointed but I still don't know where I stand. His was supposed to be “IT”, the final installment. The epic conclusion. I expected a final battle and a climax moment of when they finally entered the Still Blue, and I didn't get that. It wasn't big and dramatic and intense like I expected it to be. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad book in fact I really liked it. I just wanted more.

So the book starts a few days after the end of Through The Ever Night. Aria has brought the few Dwellers willing to leave out of the collapsing Reverie, into the land of the Tides. But that land is anything but safe as Aether storms destroy the compounds. Now the surviving Dwellers and the entire tribe of the Tides are forced to live together inside a cave within a mountain. But even there they aren't safe. Their food and other supplies are running low and they are out of options. The only way to survive is by finding the Still Blue. The only problem is that the Still blue is a cross the ocean and surrounded by a wall of Aether. The only way of getting there would be on hovers and the only way through would be with Cinder, neither of which they have.

Now to the review...

One of the things I liked about this book was that Perry and Aria were actually together in this book. In the previous one the two were separated and while it did give us a larger range in their world and we got to see different parts of it and got to open up new plot lines I still wanted them together. I also liked that in this book Aria got to grow as a character. She is no longer a week little girl but an actual bad ass fighter. Sure she cries a lot in this book, and I mean a lot, but she also fights and becomes more of a leader both to the Dwellers and the Tides.

As always liked the characters in the series. For example Sorren who is shown as a villain actually comes out as a hero. Honestly I was waiting for him to turn on them at any moment. Thankfully he didn't. I also got to know a bit more about Brooke in this book and I'm glad that she turned out not to be a total B-atch. Lastly, Roar. I always liked Roar. He's all cool and funny and bad ass and a whole bunch of other stuff. At first I had a problem with his attitude but that was understandable considering he had just lost the love of his life. But in the end I did love him again.

Another thing was the action. There was a lot of fighting and action sequences and a lot of really cool stuff. And then we get to the end. NOTHING COOL HAPPENS IN THE END! The person who I wanted to die the most, died in such an anticlimactic way. Even the people who I wanted to live died in anticlimactic ways. I was so disappointed and not at all what I expected.

Now let me take a second to talk about plot-twits and things that I just did not see coming. There are two big things that happen in the book. One took me completely by surprise, the other I saw coming a mile away. The first is: Aria's father is alive! What?!? I did NOT see that coming. I won't say who he is but boy was that shocking. It could have been more shocking and revealing if it had gone better than:

“Your my father.”
“Yes.”

I mean really Veronica, you could have written a better dialogue for this part. Anyway, the second thing was
Perry didn't really die. I knew that they were going to get in a situation like that. I just knew it. I also knew that it wasn't really going to happen. I mean did anyone really think it was going to happen?

In the end I really did enjoy the book and I'm sad to see another series end. The only problem I had was with the end and not because it wasn't good but because I wanted more. Still, I would gladly recommend this series because it has truly been fun reading it.
