This is my first book by this author, I tried this book because of Sinead Hanna  on YouTube but I was first following her on tictoc. She is why I know about summer slasher and all the other spooky book seasons . That being said I think I am still processing this book but 4 stars seems fair. it's a wonderful folk dark fantasy I think . Also not a genre I have read much of at all. 
The story is quick but packed with so much information. I enjoyed this as an audiobook via my library vs Libby. 
I feel like me, trying to work out where the story was going and how it might be a retelling as I heard someone call it that took away from the first half of books. That and the double time line at first confused me a little as well. 
I will recommend this book I am sure just not sure if it's going to be a reread kind of book for me .
