Juuuust the right amount of stupid decisions and non-communication to make this seem realistic!!! Wished it was longer and more detailed after the peak of the story was told though, it lacked a bit of aftercare so to speak

This just didn’t do it for me. To be fair, I just read Mistakes Were Made and D’Vaughn and Kris Plan A Wedding, both of which were very much right up my alley. I’m not a slow burn girlie: I like my romance novels to start with sex in the first chapter 🤷🏽‍♀️ or at least quickly establish that they have smoldering chemistry. I listened for an hour and a half and it was just both of them bitching about stuff. Also the narrator for Amy has a voice that I find irritating. She’s the same narrator from One Last Stop and I almost quit that because of her

I liked this novel because it was overly sexual. I've been reading the one-star ratings and understand why people might be upset at this, but I have no qualms with this because this is a story that does not start at the exposition. Before the book even starts Amy had a crush on Sophie based on Sophie's appearance in a reality TV show. She acted upon her attraction, reached out to Sophie, and hired Sophie to work at her restaurant. Furthermore, readers also know that Sophie finds Amy attractive as well. So I don't know about y'all, but had I had lust smoldering within me for months on end, I too would have noticed hardened nipples in a freezer.

Did I love Amy? No. She was too controlling and she had many infuriating qualities such as her refusal to trust her head chef and her inability to ask for help.

Did I understand Sophie? No. She broke up her engagement. She knows she is attracted to women. She knows that she is attracted to this one woman, but are readers really expected to believe that Sophie is so broken she can't stand up for herself in her kitchen?

However, as each character opened up to the other, they both started healing, and growing; so, yes, I was rooting for them. And the sex scenes were very well-written. So no complaints for this reader.

I tried to power through this for the sapphic, but I just couldn't. I really disliked the writing style. The character work was also pretty weak, and I didn't care about anyone in the story. The chemistry was also lacking. There wasn't any build-up in the romance. From the get-go, both of the leads thinks the other is hot, and their feelings don't seem to really change over the course of the story. The two leads also have horrible communication, which adds to the lack of chemistry. Overall, they don't seem to click as people, but more so find each other attractive, and as such the feeling of romance is really missing.

I am finding that I love foodie romances a lot. When you slap in the sapphic levels of this and I am just basically a puddle. I do think it can come off a bit short; however, it is very digestible and fun.

I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own
