A lovely fairy tale that was entertaining and interesting. Very well-crafted with lovely characters. The premise somewhat reminded me of A Monster Calls with a young boy being visited my someone magical who introduces him to fairytales and help him cope with grief.
This was also a comment on the entertainment industry and the capitalization of it and how this hurts the arts.

First foray into translated Japanese literature, could easily see this as a Studio Ghibili film. Probably will re-read in the future.

“Books have tremendous power” it’s cheesy but it was such a good book and the development of Rintaro was really great.
