Novella's can go one of two ways: they can add substance and depth to the plot of the series, or they are just fillers with no new information. I'm prone to the first and thankfully Daimon fell into that category.

I read this novella after reading Half-Blood first and I'm honestly glad that I did. Coming into this one, I already had a feel of who Alex was and what type of world she existed in. And having that background enabled me to focus more on the relationship with her mother and why they left the Covenant in the first place.

I'm enjoying reading about Alex. She's a very interesting person and it was nice seeing her before the events that led to her return to the Covenant. However, I do not know if I would have continued the series just based on this.

Definitely not as good as the first two in the series but this little Novella was the perfect start to the Covenant series. Everyone who's going to start the series, I would recommend them reading this book first! :)

Ehhhhhh....didn't impress me.

What a great start to a new series! This fast-paced, action-packed prequel to Half-Blood had me interested from the very beginning. Alex is a snarky, young, tough chick. She commands attention and has a funny outlook on things. She made me laugh amidst the scary drama of this story. It's sad, intense, amusing, quick, and never dull. Fantastic opener! Starting Half-Blood immediately!

It was entertaining enough for a short story but sadly enough didn't really contain what I'd hoped for.
