Very slow and zero character development. Auburn just isn’t a likeable character imo
No matter how hard I try to stay away from CoHo I just need to accept that I love her and everything she touches. The end.
Once in a while I come back to this book. The ending is the beginning. Quite a mess but a good mess nonetheless.

This is the 2nd story I've read by Colleen Hoover. While I like her writing, I saw too many similarities to her other book and I'm a little disappointed. The characters from book to book are completely different people but have the same mannerisms and almost the same situations. She also follows the same formula for mystery/secrets and their reveals.
She's found a niche but it only worked for me once.

I have a confession...
So, the big question ... Did Confess meet the mark?
Hell YES!!!!
Why, oh why would I ever doubt? Confess was so damn good ... strike that ... Confess was so completely, perfectly, wonderfully AMAZING! I'm still undecided, but Confess is either my new favorite or tied (with Hopeless) as my favorite CoHo read. Yes! You heard me ... FAVORITE! That is a pretty big honor, considering Hopeless is #2 on my all-time favorite book list.

Conceptually, this is book is a masterpiece.
The idea of taking random, anonymous, REAL LIFE confessions and turning them into works of art ... REAL LIFE works of art that are beautifully inspiring on their own ... simply BRILLIANT.
Ms Hoover's translation of this concept is an eloquent, effortless prose ... her writing on it's own is enough to inspire me to shed a few tears ... when you add in the gripping storyline and incredible set of characters ... let the sob-fest Tsunami begin!
Without going into detail about the plot-line (because that would just spoil it), I will say that I found myself pleasantly surprised multiple times by the twists and fake-outs in this book. I'm usually hard to fool, but I honestly saw none of them coming ... maybe I'm losing my touch? Or maybe CoHo's writing is just so phenomenal that I was distracted enough to not notice what was right in front of me. Regardless of the reasoning, I appreciated the surprise that accompanied each one of these reveals ... both the subtle as well as the shocking.
But the absolute BEST part of this story (for me) was Auburn. Her character was so easy to empathize with, and that's what truly brought all the magic to life. Her situation was; so touching, so heartbreaking , so extremely realistic. Yes, her decisions and some of her actions could be easily questioned ... It would be easy to doubt her strength because she's not more assertive or outspoken in her situation ... but, to me it's because of her actions and her willingness to comply that I am able to see her true strength. It is pure and simple love and DEVOTION.

It was perfect. If you are a Colleen Hoover fan, or if you've never read her work - THIS is the one to pick up. Unless you don't enjoy being romanced by an intricately designed and artfully woven love story.

I have a big, GIANT girl crush on Colleen Hoover!
CoHo always manages to find my soft spot. Her words dig right through my (fake) tough exterior, latch onto my soul & squeeze all the emotion out of my (usually) well-guarded heart. I know that every time I pick up one of her books, I will FEEL it . Most likely for days. Colleen Hoover is, without question one of my favorite authors. It's likely that I've put her on a bit of a pedestal. And that's a rough spot to be in ... because when the expectations are high, it's easy to slip. This is why I sometimes have a mini panic attack before reading one of her books; I worry that it won't be as wonderful as I'm anticipating.
