This is by far my favourite Harry Potter book! I loved this so much. It goes beyond just nostalgia and is just a really well written and developed story.

“‘We're nearly there ... I can Apparate us both back ... don't worry ..
'I am not worried, Harry, said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. 'I am with you'”
“But somebody else had spoken Snape's name, quite softly.
'Severus...'
The sound frightened Harry beyond anything he had experienced all evening. For the first time, Dumbledore was pleading.
Snape said nothing, but walked forwards and pushed Malfoy roughly out of the way. The three Death Eaters fell back without a word. Even the werewolf seemed cowed.
Snape gazed for a moment at Dumbledore, and there was revulsion and hatred etched in the harsh lines of his face.
'Severus. please ..
Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at Dumbledore.
'Avada Kedavra!'”
“And he knew, without knowing how he knew it, that the phoenix had gone, had left Hogwarts for good, just as Dumbledore had left the school, had left the world ... had left Harry.”
“There was no waking from his nightmare, no comforting whisper in the dark that he was safe really, that it was all in his imagination; the last and greatest of his protectors had died and he was more alone than he had ever been before.”
“..but in spite of everything, in spite of the dark and twisting path he saw stretching ahead for himself, in spite of the final meeting with Voldemort he knew must come, whether in a month, in a year, or in ten, he felt his heart lift at the thought that there was still one last golden day of peace left to enjoy with Ron and Hermione.”

phoberries's review against another edition
i accidentally started reading this again and sped through the whole thing... i genuinely forgot how good it is??? like here's how i would market this to a tiktok audience:
+ secret murder plot
+ political intrigue
+ friends to lovers (bonus: lots of jealousy and miscommunication and mutual pining)
anyways this book was so funny to read like harry is SO sassy and horny i laughed way too many times. and all the teenage drama between ron and hermione??? i ate all of that up it was so entertaining. in conclusion i want to reread the whole series now
