Very easy to read and get through. There were clearly moments that were meant to make a reader sympathize with a character, but most of those moments didn't have the intended effect for me

No plot. Just rich family drama. I believe the family came to some kind of resolution at the end, but so little happened that it was hard to tell much. It wasn’t a poorly written book, but it was a poorly executed book.
The thing is, while I empathized with the characters sometimes, they were all such terrible people. I didn’t really care about what happened to them. There’s only so much empathy I can feel for the 1%when all of their problems could be solved by being more educated and having a better understanding of other classes. None of these people had it.
It somehow doesn’t surprise me that the author lives in the exact neighborhood as the characters in her book sooo tongue-in-cheek?
Regardless, I believe there was an opportunity to really dig deep and push these characters more than the surface level soul-searching that actually took place.

3.5. I actually enjoyed Pineapple Street. It was a bit of a lazy read but still dipped it’s toe into the dynamics of money and relationships. I enjoyed the characters and how they’re perspectives altered the way I understood them. I will say that while it was good, it wasn’t immersive. Despite some attempts at imagery I remained painfully aware that I was reading a book…idk if that makes sense…
Good easy read that didn’t feel overly fluffy! Tells about 3 women in a wealthy Brooklyn family
