I loved PINEAPPLE STREET. I wondered how I could be interested in a story about rich people who seemed totally out of touch with things we "normal" people deal with on the day to day - but the the wonderfully flawed characters and thought-provoking storyline had me completely intrigued and I couldn't put this book down. I found characters I could relate to and, well, liked and wished I could hang out with. Oh, and a mother character that is sort of like my own mother in how frustrating and funny she is (Plus she reminds me of Moira of Schitt's Creek). While reading this, I laughed a lot, grimaced, gasped and actually shouted "no! no! no!" at one point. This is a book that makes you examine your own life and how you live it. It left me feeling like I can make a positive difference in this world. Well written and thought-provoking!

I love when I'm swept up in an audiobook, inventing reasons to make my walks a little longer. The narrator was excellent--tons of characters yet I had no problem keeping them apart. This is a critique of class and privilege beautifully done.

I found this very readable and a lightweight book which worked for what I was looking for. Also, you know, enjoyable rubber necking at the problems of the ultra rich, and the people who marry them?

I thought I was picking up a funny book about rich people problems (as the synopsis would lead you to believe). Instead I got a book that has a pretty enjoyable first half, and later becomes a weird combination of most plot points happening "off screen" (we just get a short summary), some plot points from the first half getting forgotten, and some very heavy-handed, surface-level discussions about a) racism, b) poverty in developing countries, c) the fact that multi-millionaires shouldn't exist, and d) the elitism among rich people (all of which happens out of the blue for a few pages and then isn't mentioned again). The story, the characters, and the social commentary all felt underdeveloped.
