This was a funny, enjoyable little book about nothing and everything. It doesn’t really have an overall dramatic story arc, more like lots of tiny little ones that add up to a a mild story. But I love that it gave so many perspectives on wealth – what it is, what it means, and how it shapes a person. No matter the amount of money you have, your perspective is limited to what you know, and without seeking to understand others you are bound to be prejudice. It’s worth asking yourself what your relationship is with money- what you do or think about it- and being open to changing your perspective.

This started off slow but picked up halfway through. I ended up falling in love with Georgina!

Georgina, Darley, and Cord grew up in a very wealthy family and took a lot of things for granted. Georgina finds a forbidden love that doesn’t last long but changes her life. Cord marries a middle class woman, Sasha, who ends up changing the whole family’s life and perspective. And Darley is the “normal” sibling of the family whose life is rocked by Georgina’s and Cord’s love life.

4.25 I really just ate this story up. It was so easy to jump right into this family and start seeing behind the assumptions of each character. Lowkey not a huge fan of Cord (or his name) but I genuinely loved everyone else and enjoyed the true nature of each person. Nobody was perfect but nobody was irredeemable either.

truly hatable characters and and no moral counterbalance really - unfortunately there was never really a reason for me to become interested in any of them

Well written, fun, fast read. Observation on 1% life on the fruit streets of Brooklyn Heights. 3.75
