🖤 Under Your Scars by Ariel N. Anderson

Tagline: “One line to ruin them all… and now I just want pancakes.” 🥞

Okay so… there’s a lot to unpack here.

First things first: believe the reviews.

Yes, this book is 100% worth the hype. Yes, it is worth the read.

And also—yes, it will break you. It will absolutely shatter you and send you into an emotional spiral. If you don’t cry… what are you, a monster? (Kidding. Mostly.) 😅

I went in blind, dodging spoilers like my life depended on it. I’d only allow myself spoiler-free content and this review will be spoiler-free too—but it’s 100% a please go read this book shout into the void. 📣

This book is an emotional rollercoaster. And I mean serious climbs and gut-wrenching corkscrew drops. 🎢

At first I thought, “okay this isn’t so bad, what’s everyone upset about?”

Then I thought I found the moment—I was wrong.

Then I thought I found it again. Nope. Wrong again.

Repeat. Mini emotional shocks one after the other… and then…

Then came THE LINE.

One. Line. To. RUIN. Them. All. 😭

I literally stopped my audiobook, set the book upside down on my pillow, took my headphones and reading light off… and walked away.

Walked. Away.

I needed a full hour to just… cope.

Then I came back.

Stared the book down.

Hyped myself up like I was going into battle.

And continued… whispering “no… no… please no…” as I read through the wreckage of my soul.

It didn’t stop hurting.

It just kept digging. 💔

So yes, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book—but please, please be in the right emotional headspace when you take it on.

If you’re here for the spice: there are a few standout scenes and the spice is spicing—but don’t be fooled. This is DARK romance through and through.

And no, there’s no happily ever after.

Only the echo of your sobs and the faint smell of pancakes from a world where your heart was still whole. 🥞

I read this book for a challenge. Most people said it broke them. Most people said they cried. So I read this as a challenge. I actually listened to it on Audio. I don't cry, I don't have heavy emotions when bad things happen in books.

I dove into this book without reading the blurb, without reading reviews, just those I'd come across on my FYP.

This one was heavy. My eyes pricked with tears at many shocking moments throughout this book. I wouldn't go as far as saying it broke me, or that I really cried, but I will say that it sticks with me.

If you find yourself with this book in your hands, please, read your triggers and be prepared.

This book is dark and emotional. It emotionally damaged me in all the right ways. I had to pick myself up off the floor. This book was worth it!!!

DNF @61% Финална оценка: 1,3⭐ Позволи ми да перифразирам една прословута фраза за правата на клиента. В случая на читателя. И по-точно на тези читатели, които смятат, че тoвa разхищение на хартия заслужава 5⭐ The reader is always right...in matters of (bad) taste. Цялото букток съсловие има спешна нужда да вдигне критериите си за качествено написана романтика. Because this? This was fuckin' trash and total waste of time.

Sadly it’s a dnf. I liked the silencer and Christian but it dragged and by the 50% mark I was done with elena. I really wanted to enjoy this and I was until after the 3/4th time she still went and worked in that club like a mug, knowing what she knew was gonna happen.
