No, you should read this book. Once you start you consent to being in an abusive relationship with it. Then be complicit about it because you ended up trauma bonding, only to realize you’re in a Stockholm situation. When you finally come to terms with that fact, yet again, it ends your soul and life.

Well, idk exactly where to start here. What should I point out first ? I believe this is going to be a messy review, sorry about that, but at the same time, I am still so frustrated even as I’m writing this.

This book sounded so interesting !!! Like, I was genuinely so excited to read it after I read the description (I should point out that I found out about this author by seeing someone’s update on another book written by her that I am still very excited to read, but when I found this one I was thinking it would be a great opportunity to see how she writes).

Well… don’t get me wrong, I saw it was a dark romance and I did read the tws. So it wasn’t like I dove into it blind. But I definitely wasn’t expecting to find such a controlling mmc, whose only purpose was to manipulate the fmc into doing everything he wanted. Now, I hate these types of characters, so you can understand why I couldn’t stand him and everything that he did.

Well, let’s try to take it step by step. So, the first 20% of the book were AMAZING !! And I truly mean that. I loved everything, from the first meeting of the main characters to their banter, their chemistry, everything was chef’s kiss for me. I was so excited to see what happens next, I couldn’t wait to read more. But then everything went downhill.

The emotional damage for this book is so real.

There will never be enough words to describe how this book hits you so hard it hurts your soul. This book ripped out and shattered my heart. I’m literally devastated. I will never look at pancakes the same way again.

This book was a masterpiece!

”If you're so concerned about my humanity, Elena, then reach into my soul and find it, because I'm not sure I have any left.”

"I made you a goddess, Elena, and I worship you. You are my religion and my whole life is dedicated to loving you. That's what the most loyal disciples do, right? Dedicate their lives to their divine savior."

"I would do anything for you. If you ask me to move the sun out of your eyes, I will push it with my bare hands. If you ask me for the moon, I will wrap it in a purple ribbon and hand it to you. If you ask me for all the stars in the sky, I will create an entire galaxy, just
for you."

"I will love you forever. Even when we're nothing but bones in the ground, I will find you in the afterlife and cherish you like I always have. I will chase away all your demons because you know I'm scarier than they'll ever be. I'll do everything for you until the only thing you know how to do is love me back."

"You'd start a war for love?"
“For Elena? I wouldn't just start a war. I'd win it."

"The second the mask is secured to his face, he's not my husband. He is rage. He is danger. He's not the King of the East Coast. He's the Harbinger of Death.
And God help me, he's beautiful."

"Do you remember the first thing you said to me when I came to the hospital after you were ra*ed?"
Blinking away the tears in her eyes, she shakes her head.
He gives her a sad smile. "You asked me to chase away the monsters under your bed. But the monster was never under your bed, was it? It was in your heart."
