Written beautifully with different voices/stories. Hard to stay interested though

An utterly unique mix of hard sci-fi, murder mystery, slasher thriller blended together in a gritty retelling of the Canterbury Tales set on the backdrop of an apocalyptic denouement. The horror and intrigue settings were cranked up to eleven all the way throughout. Definitely worthy of the Hugo Award.
My biggest gripe would have to be the ending. Don’t go into Hyperion expecting resolution of the plot; instead, treat this as the first of a four part single story and it may bother you less. Hooray! 25% of the way done!

I greatly enjoyed re-reading this again, especially after reading Fall of Hyperion. More pieces of the puzzle are clicking into place.
The Priest's Tale still horrifies me to no end. The Detective's Tale is my favorite, as it's a thrilling noir yarn, mixed with cyberpunk, and with the biggest ties into the whole mythology.
