Okay, I don't know if it was just me, but at the beginning I felt that they didn't "click", like something wasn't right, I couldn't find the connection between them, I felt everything very mehh... I don't know if I'm making myself clear? But then OHHHH everything made perfect sense and I found the chemistry that they said they had in the beginning. After 100 pages, everything got really really good and I literally finished it in one sitting! However, I still don't know if it would be one of the first books that would cross my mind when recommending Lynn Painter's books but it was definitely a cute read.

Max and Sophie story is absolutely adorable. They go from being best friends to lovers which is always such a nice cute and fluffy trope. Max is also adorable and such a great man. He also knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to speak his mind and showed Sophie what love actually is And was patient even when she was being extremely annoying.

This might be the most unlikely "meet cute" in a romcom. Sophie meets Max during her wedding - when he objects to the marriage exposing her fiance's infidelities. This then turns into a fake dating type situations

I absolutely loved the banter between Sophie and Max. I chuckled often at their quips. The 3rd act conflict was believable and resolved like adults - and quickly - which I appreciated. I honestly forgot the pair were in their 20s because there weren't the typical romcom plot devices that rely on immature characters or a dumb misunderstanding.

You know how I love saucy septuagenarians. This book has two! Larry and Rose are Sophie's roommates and they add just the right amount of kooky comedy.

I listened to the audiobook. The book is told in alternating POV and both narrators were fantastic.

Honestly I think I would have liked this better if the characters were in their early to mid 30s instead of late 20s because all their experiences and maturity lended themselves to that. I really really liked Max, and eventually I came around to Sophie. The 3rd act breakup wasn't unhinged and actually seemed like a realistic miscommunication.

DID NOT FINISH: 31%

The premise of The Objector was fun but the relationship started going to spicy for me and that doesn’t interest me.
