The first 20% of the book is fairly slow as it's setting up a mysterious otherworld. As mysteries start to emerge and unfold, it became impossible to put down and i ended up finishing the majority of it in a day!

This really wasn't at all anything what I expected the book to be. I'm so happy I went in fairly blind with this one as I was right along Piranesi in trying to uncover the truth of his life.

Despite the content warning tags, overall this book was so beautiful and mostly lighthearted. The way Piranesi revered the world in which he lived was like a breath of fresh air.
thank GOD he didnt die T.T
Even the aspects of death/remains in this book are treated with care and respectfulness.

Brilliant storytelling that feels like walking in a labyrinth. I am not a fantasy person so the world building in the first part was a little hard to get through, but I read the rest of the book in one go. I love the way the story unfolds as you gain more and more information alongside Piranesi, but the focus stays on him and his wonderment of discovery even while the fascinating backstory unravels. This book is a delight even while handling some dark subject matters.

The Beloved child of the House, and the immeasurable and infinite beauty and kindness of the House... The beauty of both the scenery and the emotion in these pages was astounding to me. I didn't expect this story to be a fantasy - turned into a real-world mystery twist, but it was, and I think it's a very well-written story for anyone open to the genre-bending and the fantastical elements that can intertwine into other types of stories.
At times, I struggled to actually focus on some of the more technical descriptions of the house and just hoped that the really important details would be clear from doing a good skim (which they were!).
Overall, it was well-written, I found many of the twists very unexpected, the main character was Good and Right and Kind and loveable, and it really made me feel good at the end of it!

Instead of watching a man lose his mind, I enjoyed watching him find it! A wonderfully written story!
