Walsh provides advice and strategies for how to pare down your belongings, particularly in preparation for/response to a major life event, such as retirement or loss of a loved one. Walsh's comfortable, conversational style made this an enjoyable read and left me feeling more confident as I embark on my downsizing journey. Walsh addresses the emotions many people face when dealing with their possessions, including fear, guilt, anxiety, and sadness, and provides guidance on how to get through the emotions, rather than ignoring or barreling through them. I appreciated how Walsh reiterated that the focus is on creating a happier future, and not letting the stuff of the past interfere with that goal.

I've been a big fan of Peter Walsh since Clean Sweep. I've read his book "It's All Too Much" and loved it. This one? While I enjoyed it, I felt like it was stuff I'd read before, specifically from that previous book. As well as from others. So I liked it, but it's not one that I'll keep I think.

A classic book on tackling all the challenges of different types in your decluttering or downsizing journey
I’ll upgrade my rating depending on how I go about downsizing. Walsh’s reasoning and approach does seem achievable.
