Weird that this site allows me to click past 5 stars in writing the review, and yet will cap at 5 stars once I click "Save." VERY INTERESTING. :P
Every time I open this book and start reading, I cry laughing. The parts where Brosh talks about her relationship with her sister have me crying crying, and this book actually convinced me to rekindle my relationship with my sister. Just an incredible read about specific human experiences ranging from the gut-punching hilarious to the gut-punching painful.

Funny enough to make me cry laughing. Some are just sad though, but rarely.

I am an Allie Brosh fan. I loved her first book, Hyperbole and a Half, because of how raw and real it was. She was able to talk about depression in a way that was both funny and relatable to anyone who has been through it and come out the other side. It seemed clear in that book that she was acknowledging the challenging parts of her story that made her who she was, from a place of feeling better and being able to now see and share the humor in some of it. She also included lots of vignettes from her childhood growing up with her little sister and those were hilarious.
Fast forward several years. She is now divorced and her sister tragically passed away in a car/train accident. In this book she stays true to her authentic style in which she tackles the hard stuff in a format that is intended to be humorous and relatable. Only, it's not. The stories are full of existential crisis, have themes of loneliness, self-loathing, and grief, and all I feel is sad. I still love Allie Brosh. I'm still a fan. But this book just makes my heart break for her.

Incredible. I laughed hardest at "Bananas" and "Sister"; the stretch from "Throw and Find" to "Friend" is devastating and kind of hopeful and so, so well done.
