i feel like the characters had very little development. still a decent storyhow did 100 years pass but they didnt grow up
I'm so conflicted. I'm going to keep recommending Malice to everyone, but I will pitch it as a standalone from now on.
This book felt like the second season of a very promising show, but with completely new writers and a director that never truly understood the vision and heart of the first season, just tried to make it bigger by adding a new, more bloody conflict.
I'm keeping the 3 star rating even though it probably should be lower, just because I can't bring myself to bump it down when I think of a story I loved so much throughout the first installment.

I was unsure if I would like this book from other reviews, but I am surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did at the end.
This book picks up after the cliffhanger ending of the last book and puts you right into the actions. We are again in the mind of Alyce and see how she has changed in 100 years. There are many instances of characters miscommunicating and thinking they are right when there is no real right and wrong. This book expands the world further than Briar and the Graces and shows different species of the dark court.
Alyce and Aurora's relationship and the war with the light fae were the focus of the book. This book shows complex characters with complex relationships. No one character is right or wrong, and no character is strictly evil or good. I did have times when I yelled at my audiobook for the characters to communicate their feeling to either and solve their miscommunication. There was a lot of time in the middle where the story dragged a bit and could have been edited down. In the end, most hardships were solved, and both characters made a smart choice of learning to grow themselves first before trying again for their relationship. Overall I enjoyed this book and am glad the story was concluded, but I think I liked the first one more.

I loved the first book, so naturally, I devoured this one immediately as well. Unfortunately, it definitely did not live up to the first. There was a lot of filler, info dumping, and clichéd characters that didn't all need to exist. I liked the beginning and ending a lot, but the rest was more mid-level. However, it's still worth reading to see what happens to the characters from the first book.

Alyce and Aurora spend the majority of the book angry with each other, which I was not a fan of. And then REGAN DIES!! WTF! I was rooting for them the whole time so I was disappointed that she ended up with Aurora after all that I've been seeing other reviews hating on Alyce, saying that she never learns etc, and while there is some truth to this I found Aurora a lot more irritating! Most annoying thing was just the constant miscommunication - just speak to each other!!!!
However this was still an overall enjoyable read for me- I really like the magical world that Heather Walter created, plus it was a sapphic romantasy, so how could I not stick around?
