4.25/5⭐️ Why would you end like that with no clear answer Heather?!?!!! My lovers are but aren’t lovers?! please be nice to me I can’t take it. I completely get having Alyce/Nimara go through big changes and not be the person Aurora beloved her to be. And I would understand Aurora not being able to get past it, but don’t leave me on the edge of not knowing

aurora deserved better alyce is probably the most unlikeable FMC in any book ive read and 0 character growth
not only did alyce keep on making the same mistakes every time up until the end shes also incredibly stupid like wdym you left her to sleep for 100 years enslaved all humans gave her room to another person (this entire plot line was so confusing why did she give away auroras room if she planned on waking her up ??????) let your court destroy all art in her castle and done nothing to keep her gardens in a decent condition despite having a bunch of servants (more accurately slaves) to do that but you just never bothered and then you expected her to be grateful for all that when she woke up????
also not enough attention was brought to the fact that alyce didnt refuse to tell her court aurora was her lover and rejected her not once but TWICE even tho aurora was perfectly willing to do the same with alyce back when she was the heir to the throne
this is the first time i wished for the FMCs to not end up together and i love toxic yuri but this was just badly written alyce was incredibly toxic and controlling and this book never really properly acknowledged that i like my characters morally gray but alyce had no redeeming qualities whatsoever at the end of the first book she killed hundreds of people just cause they were mean to her alyce simply had no morals at all
aurora was my favorite part of this book and she was done so dirty by the end i was so pissed i needed a few hours to calm down before reviewing cause i was about to give this book zero stars which is so disappointing cause i liked the first book (or at least the first 2/3 of it) the downward spiral of the writing is some of the worst ive ever read

the plot itself was repetitive and full of plot holes all of the characters needed to be absolute idiots for the plot to happen which was so frustrating to read also all of the plot happens only in the last 20% of the book
aurora was the only one with some brain in this entire book and she wasn’t even particularly smart she was just the only one who used her brain sometimes

the imps were fun but none of them had a personality of their own they were all just “one of the imps” the book would’ve benefited from a few named imps with their own personalities and interests

i kept on reading just to to see aurora to grow a backbone and tell alyce to get lost but it unfortunately never happened #disappointing

the ending was incredibly rushed unsatisfactory like after all this bullshit they dont even end up together??? stupid ass book

I wasn't entirely satisfied with this second book. I just wanted to be done reading the story and was getting frustrated with the characters' decisions. Especially each time Alyce forgave Aurora. Regan was among my favorite things about this book, and I could see how much she genuinely cared for Alyce from the beginning. In some way, I think the spell to cloud Aurora's mind did work. The way she was with Alyce for most of the book was not in kindness, even with whatever Alyce did to apparently deserve that treatment. Forgiveness was given too swiftly in the end it seemed, and the one thing I liked about the ending was how Alyce left to be on her own. I would have liked to read more about that experience and finding others in the other kingdoms.

Loved book 1 - giving 3 stars is hard. Worst ending I’ve read in ages. Felt like I wasted my time. The things I fell in love with during the first book were all ripped away from me in this one.
