Another grumpy sunshine small town romance. Overall fun and quick read. Didn’t feel much of the connection though and the first kiss was a bit random?? But fun vibes and I did like the popstar and baker aspect. Am excited for the sisters’ books!

We're gonna make this super quick GO GO GO.

When in Rome was sweet, but maybe too sweet. I think that's just Sarah Adams' style though, so maybe I shouldn't expect to really love the romance because it's always to intense for me. Her books are often marketed as slow-burn, but I didn't truly feel that slow pace (in this book and The Cheat Sheet) because there is little tension, and the characters realise their feelings for each other very quickly and don't take long to start acting on them. In part, I think this is part of a wider issue with how romance books are marketed at the mo, but let's not get into that.

I enjoyed the small town setting and collision between Amelia's big-city and big-stardom life, and the quieter, slower pace of Noah's life. I believe the others in this series stay in the same town, so that definitely helps to keep me open to reading more.

I didn't particularly like the humour in this novel either. A lot of the time I didn't really 'get' the banter between Amelia and Noah, so their dynamic was a bit lost on me. Adams also leans into quite a goofy, on-the-nose humour which doesn't do much for me.

I also needed much more to happen in the way of plot here. Amelia had her personal problems with life and her career, which acted as a good sub-plot of sorts, but there wasn't much actual action attached to that. And then the bulk of the narrative focused on Amelia and Noah's relationship, which became repetitive very quickly as they are open about the issues keeping them apart from the beginning, so after that I was just waiting around for them to change their minds, essentially. There wasn't any movement, so either their relationship needed to go through more change, or I needed something else to occupy my attention at the same time.

But in general I think I liked the characters, so that made things much easier.

This book is just perfect, perfect, perfect! ✨

I loved seeing Noah and Amelia’s relationship evolve! I especially love how they love to push each other’s buttons!

Sarah Adams can do no wrong!!

My first Sarah Adams book and I. Am. In. Love! Hilarious, touching, tender, the romance and passion is on point. Noah and Amelia are so adorably cute together. And I love that, in the end, she wouldn't let him show her how to make the pancakes. I love that she wanted to just figure it out for herself, no matter how terribly they turned out. Loved it!

The plot/the pace was a bit slow for me :( But it's a good book, just not my cup of tea
