Mathadar, the male dragon humanoid warrior lead, has spent his life attempting to avoid notice of his Queen and her capricious maliciousness. As the commander of a group sent to retrieve good his Queen desires, he and his males are shocked to find a slave market selling females, all of whom they regard as queens.
Cassandra, the female human lead, finds herself in a cage after a long time spent in stasis, with a teenage female dragon humanoid explaining the way the world works. Determined to escape from slavery and take the teen with her, Cassandra listens carefully. When Mathadar and his males find the auction, she demands their help freeing herself, the teen, and any other females they find trapped.
Hijacking a slaver’s space transport, they escape, determined to escape the females of Mathadar’s species and get back to Cassandra’s quadrant of space. Funnily enough, Mathadar’s people aren’t enthusiastic about letting them go…
This story is dual POV, well written, and an interesting, fast-paced, action focused, dragon humanoid/human, sci fi romance. I enjoyed Cassandra’s assertiveness and her willingness to work with whatever resources she had. I enjoyed Mathadar’s willingness to take risks in pursuit of a better situation than his existing one. I enjoyed the strategy and planning, and the integrated and supportive secondary characters. I chuckled at the cultural misunderstandings and resolutions.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

the story itself was pretty much what I expected but I was impressed by the world building more. I just can't explain why without spoiling.
ETA I'm reading this series all out of order which is why I didn't know about the continuity errors until just now.
