It was an okay story. I felt like the main character didn't have much of a voice, he was a bit too plain, too boring, too unrealistic for 2/3 of the book and the inner monologue wasn't enough to help me figure him out. The relationship was good, it was sweet, it was a bit too dramatic, rushed and again a tad unrealistic towards the end, but it was still quite entertaining. All in all, I still recommend this one (:

This is more a 3.5 than a 4 but I'm feeling generous. The story was sweet and heart warming but also pretty predictable (though I'll give you this, the ending wasn't _quite_ what I expected). It definitely had more promise to it than the author put on paper though, many loose ends and unnecessary details left in. But all in all it was a nice little read that put a smile on my face!

Louder than sirens
Louder than bells
Sweeter than heaven and hotter than heeeeeeeeeeeeeell
I ran to a tower where the church bells chime
I hoped that they would clear my mind
They left a ringing in my ear
But that drum's still beating loud and clear

A book titled after one of my favourite Flo + The Machine Songs... Couldn't help myself.

I loved this...absolutely LOVED it!!! The characters are wonderful! The writing is so very good! The use of the photo is imaginative. And when I got to the very end, I burst into tears because it was just so very PERFECT!

This was good and relatable, but the ending could have been better.

This is a story I keep coming back to, so I boosted it from 4 stars to 5.

I wasn't going to rate any of the LiAW stories, after blogging about the issue, but I had to make an exception for this one. A lovely, slowly-building story about a dependable, controlled and focused college guy and the out-and-flaming gay boy who turns his world upside down. I loved both MCs and the secondary characters, in their wonderful variety. Lukas is the boyfriend I'd like to find for some of the young gay guys I encounter on our YA group, and Alan is a heartbreak and a joy. Looked at in cold blood, some of the ending might seem overdramatic, but within the story it works beautifully and I was fully invested in seeing it move through to the conclusion, with laughter and a hint of tears. I wouldn't have changed a thing. Thank you, K.D.

Unlike some others I liked the long intro and the details on the video project. I regret that it stranded somewhere near the end. To me it felt like the most believable and real part of the story.

I loved the dialogue and the different types of friends. Lukas was an over the top nice guy and too good to be true for my taste. I understand that he has the hots for Alan but'm not sure why he fell in love with him. Most of the time Alan was being a jerk to him and just telling Lukas in the end that he always liked him is not enough for me. I would have liked them better if Lukas had some flaws and if Alan wasn't a jerk all the time.

The end didn't really work for me. Too happy and too fast to be believable.

Overall I liked the story a lot and I think the author is very generous with this long free read.

„I hate you, I love you
I hate that I love you
Don't want to, but I can't put
Nobody else above you.”

Some people would call this an enemies-to-lovers story, but I prefer to use the lyrics above. :)
A very gay boy and a supposedly straight academic white boy. We see their relationship unfold from Lukas’ POV, he’s a hardworking straight-A student. Alan is smart and witty and he has a comeback for everything. They have to work together on a school project, and Alan is NOT happy about that…

Almost through the whole book I felt that Alan was verbally abusing Lukas, and Lukas just silently endured it. It’s reverse-bullying. Stereotyping works both ways unfortunately. :(
I just wanted to shake Lukas, he should have raised his voice at least, or throw something, but he remained calm all along, and somehow, despite all the hateful words, ha fell in love with Alan. And it was reciprocated from the beginning I think, but of course Alan fought hard.

I loved this book very much, though the ending was a bit over-the-top.

This was beautiful and fun and funny and intelligent and a hard won HEA and so cannot believe we get to read it for free!

I am not doing this story justice, so just trust me and read it!
