The ending? Phenomenal, amazing, left no crumbs, couldn't put her down. The whole first 80% of the book? Our sweeties, Poppy and Casteel, waffling back and forth over whether or not it was okay for them to kiss. If I wanted to dwell on whether or not kissing is okay I would just think about my relationship with my toxic ex boyfriend - and who wants to relive that? The ending was still good enough for me to immediately start the second one last night.......so she gets a 4.

I always love seeing the relationship between main characters grow and this book focused on it. Knowing that this series has 6 books, I was wondering where we would end off at but I think it is a great cliffhanger and lead into the next one.
Since I have finished the flesh and fire series, I’m trying to piece together the prophecy and what happened between Seraphenas labour and the epilogue. Slowly I think I’m figuring it out but I have to resist googling a summary explanation lol.
The pacing was great and the twists made sense. I also like how poppy’s struggle between what she knows people feel and how they behave is portrayed and constantly an issue.
