Like a steamier, more violent, graphic twilight (sorry but the parallels are pretty evident) with more complex vampire mythology and political/religious themes. Much more interesting plot and character development compared to the first book. Continued issues with info-dumping and repetitive prose. Internal conflict in the FMC gets a bit laborious and repetitive but it definitely helps with the sexual tension, so itโs worth it. Less predictable plot twists than in book one, but still somewhat predictable. Overall a good read and definitely more invested in the characters and world.
Graphic: Violence, Blood, Murder
Moderate: Animal death
Minor: Rape, Sexual assault
If you like morally grey MMCs, enemies to lovers, slow burn romance, touch her and die, chosen one, and fate/destiny tropes, this would be a great book for you!
