I was a little worried that it would be hard for me to get back into the world, since I had about a 2 month gap between reading this one and the first one, but I was immediately hooked! The plot felt faster-paced and I feel like so much happened. I really like where the plot is going and even if some parts felt a bit predictable, it didn't take away from my enjoyment at all. I really love Poppy's character progression and seeing her interact with all of the other characters. The only thing I didn't love was the miscommunication/lying by ommission between her and Casteel, it was just frustrating. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Idk y’all, this one was rough for me. It is 75% poppy thinking about things. 20% flirting/fucking and 5% actual things happening. Im not sure if I can make it through the rest of the series haha.

This book definitely unraveled more of the world and offered better insight into what’s happening behind the scenes—much more than Book 1. The world and magic system continue to be a strength, though still a bit confusing at times. That said, I do like that there’s clearly more to uncover.
The book leans on the back-and-forth romance and the FMC’s internal conflict. There were entire stretches where it felt like not much happened beyond emotional (and physical) tension. Certain words and phrases—like “violent,” “I’m going to stab you,” and “intriguing”—were overused to the point of being distracting.
I really enjoy Kieran as a character, and I’m excited to see how his role develops. The MMC, however, still feels a bit one-dimensional. I wish we saw more of his growth or his responsibilities as a prince—his character mostly revolves around the FMC. And his timing? Occasionally cringey. We did not need that many arousal moments in the middle of a crisis.
Wenn ich am Ende eines Buches Gänsehaut bekomme, ist das ein ziemlich gutes Zeichen.
Großartig!
Ich bin gespannt, wie es weiter geht.
