I always love seeing the relationship between main characters grow and this book focused on it. Knowing that this series has 6 books, I was wondering where we would end off at but I think it is a great cliffhanger and lead into the next one. 
Since I have finished the flesh and fire series, I’m trying to piece together the prophecy and what happened between Seraphenas labour and the epilogue. Slowly I think I’m figuring it out but I have to resist googling a summary explanation lol. 
The pacing was great and the twists made sense. I also like how poppy’s struggle between what she knows people feel and how they behave is portrayed and constantly an issue.

I am hooked on this series! I already have the next two checked out and waiting for me to crack open. I enjoy the strong female lead, the romance, and the development of the plot and how it carries over from the first book. I will mention that there are some phrases or lines that are repeated too frequently...to the point that I read the first word of it and already know what will be said. I'm looking forward to continuing the series! A fun, sexy, adventure with some twists on classic literary tropes.

The first book had me hooked but this one was just sooo repetitive and long. Needed some serious editing. Probably won’t finish the series.
