Probably closer to a 3.5 Star - but as someone who has loved all kinds of puzzles ever since I was young, it was an enjoyable and breezy read. I've never found Jacobs to be particularly compelling, and given he is a participatory writer, the stories of the contests he entered were not interesting to me. He did interview some social scientists and experts/collectors of many different genres of puzzles. I always enjoy reading about people who are passionate about "off-the-beaten-path" interests.

There are a lot of puzzles in the book, so I would recommend a paperback or a hardback for those who want to solve them. I purchased it via Kindle for $4.95 during a brief sale.

The book wasn't a memorable read, but a nice, breezy weekend diversion.

I loved this book! Every chapter made me want to try the type of puzzle that was being discussed. I could feel AJ’S love of puzzles through the audiobook narration, and I really enjoy the accompanying PDF as well. Exactly the book I wanted based on the description.

I started the book by reading, but got caught up in school so had to turn it in and do it as an audiobook. I definitely preferred to do it by physical copy rather than audiobook. The book was really intriguing, some history but not too much that it got boring. The bonus parts of different examples of the puzzles made it interactive and fun. The audiobook made it a little harder to get through
