I really enjoyed reading this book. Towards the end, I found myself liking the main character a little less, but you understand where he's coming from in a way. Kind of a weird premise for the book at first, and it is quite the rollercoaster, but it's good. The pacing is kind of deceptively slow, at least to me it was. Some people that I've spoken to have said that they did not like the slow pacing, but I like slow books. The main character kind of goes off in some parts that seem unnecessary, but I also enjoy that kind of stuff.

I loved this book and couldn't put it down despite it being a real doorstopper and taking me a month to finish. It's a tense, moving and sometimes arch book that revisits some of Donna Tartt's preoccupations as a writer: class; human relationships and terrible secrets.
