I adore this book! It had everything I loved about stories. Great writing, amazing characters, incredible world building, everything. The book does an excellent job in showcasing many different types of characters and the growth they go through. It's so diverse and queer and wholesome and so much more. I have no complaints. I fell in love with every single character and the relationships they shared with one another. I love learning about the different species and the cultures they have. I love seeing what was important to these characters. I kept wanting them to find their happy endings throughout the whole book because I just didn't want anything bad to happen to them. If you love books that focus a lot on character growth, their struggles, their diversity, and exploring different universes, then I highly recommend this book.

A cozy sci-fi, with low stakes and high hopes.

I love hard sci-fi, and if you do, you'll love this too. Through our Earth-born human main character, Rosemary, we meet the ragtag crew of a ship that 'punches holes in space' to make space travel faster between solar systems.

The crew is made up of humans and aliens. Becky Chambers shines when introducing us to different alien species, their cultures, home planets, languages and body types. There are a lot of comic moments and the whole story feels like we're taking the 'long way'. Do not come here for fast pacing and intense moments. Instead, just buckle up and enjoy the ride.

This book is best read while hitchhiking in a VW van along the coast of the universe.

I loved this book! I love the characters and the story building. Everyone had emotions and their own stories and the were written well. I am not a Sci-Fi lover but this drew me in and kept me wanting to read about this crew. Not everyone had a happy ending and not everyone on the crew liked each other but that’s okay. They loved and respected each other and that’s what made this book so good.

Very nice book with great worldbuilding and lots of interesting ideas about how families work for alien species. Could use a bit more suspense around the first quarter mark.

There were some moments that touched my heart. It was also pretty funny. I like the sci-fi serious meets casual talk kinda way the book reads.
