Wow. What a fascinating book rich with historical facts and a fantastic description of Alexander’s life and his time on this Earth. He was no mythological figure with supernatural abilities, he was just an unthinkably incredible general and leader, especially for his age. It is somewhat poetic that he conquered so much, and yet died from what is perceived to be malaria or typhoid fever. We are all human beings, no person can escape the cycle of life and often times people accomplish unbelievable, incredible feats during their time here and die of something common. This has made me want to delve further into the history of ancient civilizations. To think what he did and its scale could have happened so long ago blows my mind and is also incredible terrifying, humans are scary. It’s important to learn about though so we permanently jeep things like this in the past throughout the world. History teaches us so many lessons.

I found this book quite engaging and accessible for a biography of someone ancient and larger than life that has myth intertwined with hard history. I really liked Freeman's highlighting of Alexander's leadership qualities, shedding light on how he inspired and led his men through numerous challenges. This focus on leadership makes the book not only a fascinating historical account but also a valuable resource for understanding effective leadership principles. Overall, this is definitely a must-read for history enthusiasts and anyone interested in learning about the strategies and charisma that made Alexander a great leader.
