yea, this was kinda fucked up. the art was very pretty though, albeit in a sometimes morbid, gruesome way

The premise of this was fantastic and the general vibe was great but the delivery lacked warmth. It was a fun quick read that could have instead been really impactful and challenging with huge twists that could last multiple volumes. Cramming the entire narrative into one volume however left the story lacking heart and turned what could have been amazing into something just ok

beautiful art. story is interesting but maybe wrapped up all a bit suddenly.

also....not against stories with a big kill count (and I love a one person and the child they have to take care of against the world) but also, not sure about the fact that almost all of the important characters who die are Black. (from the cover I did not expect her girlfriend to die immediately)

I loved Zoe Thorogood's art but the writing was hit or miss for me

This was solid. I’ve been a fan of the Joe Hill comics I have read, particularly Locke and Key, but he’s quite a prolific guy. I picked this up largely in part based on the prey and the art by Zoe Thorogood, who has become a young creator to watch closely. I was not a fan of the twist ending, and I think it somewhat goes against the thematic metaphorical point a little. That said, I was glad this was pretty short and that it didn’t do any big time jumps to a Walking Dead style, recreating civilization scenario.
