After its rough start, this series continues with an imperfect-but-finally-enjoyable run. The continued story of the Mercs for Money works better here than it ever has before. And even Deadpool 2099 seems to be working itself out. There are flaws, but I'm truly hopeful now for the future of this series.

'Pool is not having the best of times; in fact, it's all going downhill, as we all knew it would. Oh, lawks.

This one had some good bangers, especially between Deadpool and the soon-to-be ex-wifey. Deadpool threatening his (now former) team gave me a taste of that nastier side of Wade I so enjoyed as a teen.

Best Civil War II tie-in? Prob'ly, but only because that entire event was about as memorable, as natural, as a wet blanket. Totally not a film tie-in for Cap America 3!

I’m not a Deadpool fan. Before I read a Deadpool comic or saw the Deadpool movie, I was subjected to lots and lots of Deadpool cosplayers, and that’s a real quick way to hate a character. I went into Deadpool: Civil War II really hoping to change my mind about the man. Unfortunately, this is yet another crappy entry in the Civil War II.

First of all, a surprising amount of this book is written in Spanish. I can appreciate Duggan's commitment to the joke, I guess, but...I don't read Spanish. I missed part of the story because I don't read Spanish. That feels bad.

Second, I get that the overarching story is supposed to be a Civil War inside of the Mercs for Money, but it's not a civil war - this is just guys who have been actually screwed over (by, surprise surprise, Deadpool himself) beating up a guy who can't really be injured. There's no war, there's no moral ambiguity, there's no schism within a population. This is just a group of guys rebelling against a leader who's been stealing from them. It's just...not interesting.

To me that's what this book comes down to - it's boring. I can't read quite a bit of the dialogue, Deadpool's antics are not funny, and the story is tedious.
